| I would be very leary of spraying Envirotex. I think you will have issues with clogging your airbrush. |

| EnviroTec is not made to thin. Epoxy thinner is made for epoxy paint not etex. |

| I use spray-on Envirotex on walleye lures that I re-paint, and after 3 coats it's better than what comes on a Rapala.
I've heard of thinning Envirotex with a certain kind of alcohol. When in doubt, call the manufacturer.

Location: Mayer, MN | I see all these great looking lures coming from the basement...what do people use to get such a smooth clear coat? I Pour envirotec on mine but there is a lot of waste. My clear coats look ok but nothing like most of the lures I see. |

| mmclain, a lot of guys apply either Devcon 2 ton epoxy or envirotex with a brush, without thinning, and in multiple coats. After applying it, they put it on a rotisserie wheel and spin the lure until it hardens. By spinning it, the coat is uniform and has not drips or sags, and there is less that drips off as waste.
If you don't have a wheel to spin the baits as the clear coat dries, try using Devcon 2 ton epoxy and slowly spin the bait by hand while holding it by one of the hook hangers or the line tie. I use a small pair of vice grips to grip the tail hook hanger as I apply the Devcon 2 ton, and to spin the bait for about 15 minutes or so until the epoxy sets up a bit. (Most of the time I put them on the rotisserie wheel that I built, but occasionally I still spin one by hand)
Envirotec require hours of rotation or it will run off the bait, pool in certain areas of the bait, or sag. |
