Posts: 786 Location: Minnesota | Which Storm lure is everyone using? I see a few posts here and there about the new Storm lure. Just curious if someone could post a picture or the model of that one. I know they don't las tlong but I hear they catch fish like crazy! Thanks, James

Posts: 400 Location: North/Central WI | The 9" Swim Shad is the ultimate bait for fishing deep. The hooks suck, but with a little creativity it can be modified to become a great hooking bait.

Posts: 1636 | Kickin Minnows and Swim Shads have their time and place and are great lures. Why does everyone change the hooks on the kickin minnows? Just Curious. I do not change the hooks and have had no problems. The only problem I have is fish hitting the #*^@ tail! It seems like when they get hooked with the original hooks, they stay on (for me). They are sharp hooks and are good as long as you sharpen them. Does anyone else keep the original hooks on? Who changes them...and why? Is it just to stay on the safe side? Thanks for your input! Posts: 484 Location: St. Louis, MO., Marco Is., FL, Nestor Falls, ON | I haven't changed hooks, either. No problems so far. I hear you about the tails. My complaint is about the eyes....they keep falling out. This year I will super glue them in and keep it handy for the tails. Wouldn't these be great lures if they were made with the new super stretch soft plastic?

Posts: 1636 | I had the same problem with the eyes falling out of the 6" model, but I don't use them much. haven't had that problem with the 10".

Posts: 2024 | I guess for me switching out the smaller red hooks is a confidence thing. To my eyes those bitty little hooks are way too small for the size of that bait (I'm talking the 10" Kickin Minnow), and seeing as it sinks anyway adding bigger hooks won't hurt the action. My thinking is that if a fish swipes at the bait in a figure 8 (Brandyn, think Shelbs last fall, tourney...) it will come into contact with a larger hook than with that small one. If a fish t-bones the bait then I think it's doesn't matter. I boated several last year on the 8 whipping the bait around as fast as possible and lost two before swapping out the hooks for 4/0 Eagle Claw 774s.
