7 of the 8 fish were caught in an 8'x 20' space near a culvert, two small boats trying to stay out of the wind were told by people in the nearby condo complex that the muskies were "stacked like cordwood" in the culvert. They capatilized. Better lucky than good.

Fish do love to pile up on culverts. Muskies seem to have a noise for that moving water. Good job by those guys keying in on that. I geuss I would telling a different story though if I was in the tourny.

The two boats stayed at the culvert for the entire 12 hour tournament, I know becouse I stopped back several times to see if it would open up. The winner was a newby, got a 44"er and a 38"er, second caught 3 fish all under 40", 3rd got two fish all under 40", and 4th place was a boat that squeezed onto the spot just long enough to catch a 37"er. I avoided the crowd and had one follow on the main lake.

Fished it Monday after work and my boat partner connected with a nice 42"er, and I went out Wed. night late after work by myself and boated a 42.5"er and helped a walleye fisherman land/photo and release a 38"er. The fishing has been real good becouse I only am out there about a two hours on each night. Darn work has prevented me from getting out there Tues. and Thurs. and now I'm chasing turkeys so hopefully the bite is still good after the rainy weekend.

When I moved up to Mason City I wasn't looking forward to fishing Clear and now I have withdrawels when I can't... Go figure.

We showed up late and could not find the guy to pay the tourney fee, so we decided to just go out and break in the new boat.

I caught a 44" in the main lake, broke in the new boat and the new net and collected my first $1.00 from Capt Bigfish(the boat is already making money!!)!! Well worth the travel!!
