Just for some Pre-Season discussion:

Let's assume that an angler, Let's call him Billy goes out Muskie Fishing.
Billy Catches a fish a really big fish the catch was witnessed by people that Billy does not know, He decides to keep his catch, Gets it weighed
on a certified scale the weight reads 70lbs 2oz, This is witnessed by a group of people. The local Game warden suggests that a second weight measurement be taken, so Billy finds a second Certified scale and the weight reads 70lbs 1oz, this is also witnessed by a different group of people. Billy decides to submit his catch as a new All Tackle WR, all folks who witnessed the catch and both weight measurements submitt signed affidavidts as to what they witnessed, Every thing around the catch was by the book Season,Licensing,ETC. All the "I's" are dotted and "T's" are crossed this fish should obviously be the new All Tackle WR. Now comes a problem>

The Fish was caught on a "PRIVATE" lake, only about a dozen folks have the rights to fish the lake everybody else is forbidden to fish it and could be arrested for tresspassing.

Should the Fish and Billy be recognized as the new WR?
what if Billy was the One doing the Tresspassing?

Billy should be castrated and shot. The fish should be strapped to a giant bottle rocket and launched into outer space and blown up along with Billy, all the witnesses, the DNR, and the certified scale. The lake should be promptly filed in. and a giant WAL Mart built on the site, but there is to be no fishing department, and no fish related items served in the Wal Mart grill.

Jeff,

Don't let anyone ever tell you aren't a horse of different color. That was some funny stuff.

Ive read and know of such a story but it was a white tail deer in Ontario, the deer was poached in the middle of the night and was a Ontario record, ministry took the deer, charged the hunter, but still made the deer a record. Theres no reason why the animal cant' be the record, the hunter or fishermen gets nothing

Isn't Lac Suel C&R only? What if someone catches a 70lb. fish there? It couldn't possibly count, right?
