| So I know it has been asked befor on this forum but we need a new battery I think. My buddies trolling motor battery seems to go after only three hours is this normal. I think hes got a minnkota 65pd bow mount. we only run it on say 4 or 5 intermitently as needed and it just seems to suck the juice out in a hurry. I have since put to batteries in the boat and use the second when the first dies. Will I get better life if I use them together? If so how do I connect them? I believe it's called series (from other forums) but Does this mean + to +, Or the other way possitive to negative and then use on batteries pos and ones neg |

| ok so i read the above forum, but it doesn't answer my question. Will i get longer use out of 2 batteries ran parallel or if i use them separate or the same. Also how do you charge batteries that are parallel? |

| I have looked into how my boat is hooked up and it appears that my trolling motor has to power inputs. It doesn't appear that the batteries are in parallel but rather that you can use one or the other without having to move the cables. Can I just hook them both up at the same time? Can I charge one and will the current move to the other? Or should I just buy some cables and connect the two batteries and buy and on board charger? I really don't want to spend the $300 for an on board charger. If anybody has a Lund Mr. Pike your input would be greatly appreciated. |

| OK, if you have a 65 PD, that is a 24 volt model. That would require two batteries connected in series.
If you have a PD 55, that would be a 12 volt model, and would require only one battery. You can connect two batteries in parallel for this TM, and you would nearly triple your battery life over a single 12 volt. Assuming you have good batteries to start.
You can get a 2 bank, 20 amp charger for less than $200. ProSport 20 was $159 at Fleet Farm and Gander, I think.
