I just finished this one up. Its made from maple, 9" long with carves gills and scales. I'm having glare issues with my camera but hopfully the detail shows up.

Wowwwww....if that's all painted by yourself and not a cutout picture used on the bait, you better not have thrown that thing in the water!!!! That thing is amazing! Definitely one of my favorites I've seen on here. If you have any other baits, please show them.
Thanks for posting the pics, Jake Bucki

That is one of the nicest baits I have seen! Your paint is incredible! You say carved scales? How did you carve them in? Knife or burn? Amazing work!!!!!!

Yup I painted it. I dont have any other pics of baits of this caliber to post at the moment. But, i'm done with school in three weeks so i'll be spending a lot more time out in the shop then. Jason, I carve the gills and burn the scales. Thanks for the kind words guys.

Zman, Awsome work! That is way better than some custom production lures that have been posted lately. Your attention to detail in the carving and the paint work are Top Notch!

Keep up the great work,

Douglas

Zman, could you take some more pictures of that bait and post them on here? It looks cool as it is, but I would like to see some pictures of that thing in better lighting, so I could see your carved details better. Cool looking bait.

Thanks guys. Toad I hope these are better. Do you have any suggestions for lighting? Also, I have to compress and resize my pictures before posting them to make them under 100K. is there anyway to get around this so they show up more clear??

Hands down my favourite custom I've seen posted here thus far. I love everything from the details and paint down to the taxidermy eyes. Incredibly well done. I love that you painted the tail blade as a fin...nice touch!

Actually Snax the eyes are handpainted, not taxidermy. But thanks!

Guts, it makes a high pitched popping sound. And muskyj to answer your question, I used to make "regular" decoys and lures but I just kinda got bored with it. I try to go for quality now more than quantity. So now unless i get a special order I make all of my lures and decoys this way, even though the exta detail isnt always necessay.

No one is going to make a fuss over a straight black bait correct? These amazing detailed baits get people talking...and buying.

Those pictures are what I was looking for Zman. Super nice bait, and I really like how you made the back blade a fin. Really nice piece of art.

That lure looks awesome, and the tail painted like a fin is a cool look. Super job.
