People are probably a little "Gun Shy" posting. It's my understanding that this is a forum for basement builders and not so called professionals. However with the recent "Hubub" over everyone ripping everyone elses idea's off. It doesn't suprise me that it's gotten quiet. IMO there are very few innovations in Muskie fishing tackle. There is going to be alot of overlap. I for one no longer post for this reason. Pat

I still "lurk" but I too was put off by all the drama. The season's coming up quickly anyway and hopefully there will be fish stories for all.

You guys ARE the basement builders, so please post regularly about your lures or the public will not know as much as would be possible about them. We'll make sure no more of the drama occurs; that was necessary to clear the issue, which we feel has been accomplished.

It's funny. we get complaints when we moderate a subject because of the 'negative' direction content is going, and get complaints when an important subject is allowed to air out a bit. One thing for sure, we won't allow any bashing or negative commentary to remain.

Muskie Pat,

I must agree on not much inovation out there. Not a lot left to inovate BUT some here have some great new lures and looks! Love some of the foils I have seen here. I tried to "copy" them but tigger still has me stumped!

Funny too about copies, I even got emails on my eBay account that I was buying copies of lures and I should not be buying them. LOL I did not respond to the morons! Oh well, the copy crap has been beat to death here and on other forums. Get used to it guys, 95% of lures made today are copies of the GREATS from 50-100 years ago. I thank those who made sure great timeless lures for me to "copy" and every "copy" I make is a testimate to the greatness of those lures gone by and the great ones still in production today!

As for posting some new lures, I have some new foils coming in soon. I was not going to post them but will when they are done. Nothing special but, I wanted to show the difference between using different backings to help me form my foils and the effects. You will see them soon. They have one coat of epoxy and need some more paint and then a few more coats of epoxy.

There is postive and negative that come from this forum. Sometimes it is negative and the line is crossed. I am sure he will learn from this and we can move on.

Lets see some sucker patterns from some of the other guys that make baits. It seemed to be off limits before.

Millions of baits have been made over the years. I agree there is overlapping. Nothing can be done about that fact.

One thing about you guys making sucker baits....You HAVE to start making these things actual size! Muskie won't know what to do if they are not made actual size. See picture for my definition of "actual size". I do hope this helps for future sucker baits made/posted on this board.

Well, at the end of the day lets just agree we are all copying (sort of) the greats of yesterday and leave it at that. I say we get back to posting good crap about making baits and we all pool together and figure out how the hell tigger makes those #*^@ foil baits! LOL

I have to say that the basement bait forum is my favorite section of this site. It allows me to see lures that most of us would never get the chance to unless we are friends with the dude making them. A lot of the baits I've seen posted here could be considered absolute works of art. It is great to see the creativity and talent that is going on in dark, damp, dirty basements around the midwest. The experiences that I have had in this forum have all been positive, helpful and inspiring (as you will usually find in dealing with muskie fisherman). Keep up the good work guys!

Rod your scaring me! LOL Very nice! I love the colors.

Nate, when are you coming out with some more? Have you been busy with school?

Moderators, I am sorry about posting the link. I was not trying to divert anyone to another site. Just wanted share it. This musky bait site is the best! Hands down.

Would something eat a 3 foot sucker? I am serious on asking the question.

Since it has been brought up once again, I will clarify one last time that I was simply wanting credit for "popularizing" the realistic look in glide baits. I never claimed to have invented the concept. I happened to be the guy that made it mainstream through the exposure of great websites such as this one. To anyone who took it the wrong way I apologize. I'm a very passionate guy when it comes to what I do as most of you are also. My opinion on the subject of copy cats is as valid as anyone elses and I appreciate that I did get to air my opinion here. I don't expect everyone else to agree and that is fine by me. Unfortunately the point I trying to make was was compeltely misunderstood by many of you and taken way out of context.

I have the utmost respect for all the bait makers who post their baits here and I really enjoy seeing new ideas. There are quite a few of you whos abilities continue to astound and inspire me. As for the Sucker glide baits, that one bait was the one that got the ball rolling for me and it was indeed my "signature bait" as Beaver posted before. If I suddenly changed my style and started making foil baits that have the exact same style as Tigger you'd know exactly where I got the inspiration wouldn't you? It would be so obvious as his individual style stands out among the crowd. I enjoyed it when mine did the same. That's all.

Please continue to post all your baits here and show what you have to offer.

Thanks Doug. As you already know, you are one of the people whos baits amaze me. No one will ever accuse me of not speaking my mind or being politically correct. I say what I mean wether it pleases the masses or not. Again I sincreley apologize for giving a very misleading impression of who I am. I'm not in this for the ego stroking. I got that out of my system two years back when everything started for me. I'm just one of a multitude of bait makers here who make their baits the best that they can and hope to stay ahead of the competition.
