| If you had a choice...What reel would be on every set up you have? |
|
|
|
| Shimano Calcutta's in the 250 and 400 models for casting and the 700 for trolling and suckers. There just isn't a smoother reel on the market, and ya gotta love the instant engagement for the retrieve!

| Without question it would be a 251 Calcutta. Lots of reel in tha small package.

| I'd have a Garcia 7000CL Big Game series reel. Higher speed gears than the regular 7000 (5.3-1 versas 4.1-1). Large spool diameter allows for very high speed retrives if you want, plus the power and durability of a 7000.
They are large and take a little getting used to, but they can do things other reels can't.

| I just got a Calcutta 400te. Only used off the dock and it is a very smooth fast reel. I also use the new Diawa Millonaires, and Calcutta 400's. I have a couple of 7000's I use when I want to burn some bucktails.
Good luck, Murph |

| Jason,
I'm a little different from the rest, I still prefer Garcia for casting. I bought several of the new c5's and so far so good.
I am hoping to test a Calcuta TE but don't want to buy one until I can use one for a few hours to see if they are worth the $$.
For trolling/suckers I still prefer the Penn 9m or 10 series.

| I don't think that there's one particular reel that would be on EVERY rod that I fish with. For my twitching rods, I like the Shimano Curado. On the heavier rods, I still like my Ambassaduer 6500's.
