THE FERD,

A quick fix for the wing nut is to get a 1/2" Dia. water line plastic tee at the plumbing store for about $.39 and cut a slot 1/8" wide on the tee side and use it like a little wrench over the wing nut. They are small enough to keep in your pocket or tie a line thur the hole and you won't lose it.
