I have a Lund Mr. Pike and I am wondering how to attatch rod holders without damaging the boat. I would like some sort of temporary rod holder that can hold up to musky baits being trolled. I am Considering upgrading next season. What do you guys suggest? Here is a pic of a mr. piker notice how the gunwales are so wide.

i am in the process of installing these on my boat, they are made by pursuit...they have a step pad that slides in place when you are not using the rod holder..you can get them in all differant sizes.

What does the plate screw into? There doesn't seem to be a whole lot of material to screw into I am afraid they will just pull out and leave me with four holes in my boat.

you have to drill 4 holes in your boat for each mount, the longer ones may be six, there are flat washers and lock washers and a nut that go on the backside underneath to prevent them from pulling thru...you can also buy a metal plate that goes on the underside of your gunnel for added support if needed.

I use TiteLok tracks, just bolt to gunnel and use whatever apparatus you wish

When I put tracks on my boat I went to a local scrapyard and bought some 1/2" aluminum plate they had then I drilled clearance holes to add some reinforcement from the bottom.I think i paid $1 per pound.

You want the under plate to be longer and wider than the track to spread out the torque generated by getting hungup.
