Here is a goofy question, but I'll let it fly... I like to run my trolling motor barefoot because I really can troll my motor better.. It gets a little difficult in early season and November to stand barefoot with cold weather... I have some waterproof boots that keep my feet dry and warm, but they are too big and clumbsy and make running the trolling motor difficult on cold days... Does anyone know of a boot that is 100% waterproof, keeps feet warms when temperatures fall below freezing and are the size of a tennis shoe or maybe a little bigger??? I have seen some really nice looking boots for sale, but want to get opinions before i make a purchase...

I run my transom trolling motor w/ my foot as well and have found that Merrill winter mocs are warm, semi-waterproof comfortable and once they are somewhat worn out they give good feel of the motor. they have a neoprene liner which makes them work for me in the cold.

I second the vote on Merrill's. Have one pair of insulated (waterproof) boots for cold weather fishing, and a pair of their waterproof sneakers types for summer.

Merrill's are excellent quality. They may run around $100, but they last a couple of seasons of hard wearin'.

Just my opinion.

Yikes. barefoot + muskie hooks = potential problem

BTW - I fished a Cass Lake Outing with Al Warner in high winds, rain and like low 40* weather. It was cold. He wore tennies with no socks, I couldn't believe it but he never got cold feet.

New Balance Waterproof Country Walkers are in between a shoe and boot. 100% waterproof and fit as well as any New Balance trainers. No insulation but merino wool socks are great in cold weather. Waterproof is a must spending 30+ hours a week chasing muskys. I love fishing long days in the rain. Wet feet suck. Last year I wore the NewBalance model 976 waterproof but they were replaced by the model 977 also waterproof. I never sit down while fishing muskys and being comfortable is a must when on my feet for 6-12 hours at time. I however, I do not run the trolling motor as I fish off the back of my friends boat. Im sure they will work great. I cought 14 muskys in Madison last year, 7 over 40 inches, 2 over 45 all in my first 4 months fishing for muskys ever. All the best fish were in the rain.
