Location: Southern W.Va. | Use the search part of this board and look up things like "jerkbait in the fall" or "spring time muskie ", or maybe " bucktails in the summer" . This will answer many of your questions , after that and if you still have questions and I'm sure you will , feel free to ask. Color is another issue as water conditions and forage dictates the choices.

Location: So. Illinois | Some rules of thumb that I have picked up are:
Stained water, cloudy or overcast = bright or hot baits
Clear water or clear skies = natural baits
Spring or cold front, post weather = small baits
Summer = Fast
Summer / fall = larger baits
Also, match the hatch. Use baits that represent thr forage is size and colors

If that don't work, try and throw them something totally different to there preffered forage. Alot of times ive trown out things that look ridiculously stupid compared to the forage there eating on and that has got them to bite. I dont know if its something different for them or what but it has worked a few times for me. |
