Where are you guys who run a fish hawk putting the puck for the GPS system? I run a 1750 and am putting the unit on the dash, any sugestions would be great.
Thanks

I have an internal antenna on mine.
If memory serves me correct, I think as long as it has a lot of exposure you should be okay. (ie, no obstructions)

I have the internal on my 1850 too. I have my internal unit mounted on the gunnel on a Ram mount.
I would think you might have room to mount the puck on the gunnel too?

I think you have to run power to the puck, on the gunnel by the light pole socket is where I see alot of them. Did you pull the trigger?

I drive a 2005 Fish Hawk 1750.

My puck has been held to the gunnel directly to the right and forward a bit (slightly in front of the windshield. I took delivery of the new boat right from the dealer, and I never liked the set up, and have just had a Lowrance 3600 GPS with internal antenna mounted on the right where my Lowrance 337 (sonar/gps) was mounted, and I have now moved the 337 over to the left (the ram mount sits within the cup holder on the left hand side of the dash). Of course I would love to have purchased a Lowrance 113, (and not have multiple units sitting on my dashboard), but the $2K+ price tag was a little steep.

I can say that I never really had any problems with the puck mounted/attached to the gunnel. It's just that it always seemed out-of-place. However, mounting that puck directly on to the dash would probably result in the glue from the bottom pad (onto which the puck is held by velcro) getting all over the back plastic on the dash ... and that would really be annoying.

An imperfect set up to be sure.

Craig

I have the same boat and I have mine in the same place as cjirch. On top of the gunnel just in front of the windshield. Never had a problem getting a singal. Looks kinda funny there but you dont have to run the wire very far and the extra can be zip stipped under the dash.

I had mine on top of the console on my Lund 1700 Angler. It never had a problem. There are so many satellites up there, I get lock in my garage through just the two little windows. You should have no problem on your dash. Lots of guys put it there.

Thanks for the responces on this, my feear of putting the puck on the gunnel was the cover on the fishawk and the way it hooks to the gunel I was not sure if it would work without having constant pressure from the cover while traveling.
