Posts: 7117 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Who is interested? Who needs questions answered? Who is going to topple Nelson/Okray from the Champions' Title? * winter may never end, so this may end up being a moot point, anyways.

Location: The Yahara Chain | It would be more fun if the people that sign up actually participate. It's not very fun when two teams in your pool don't even make an effort to have a match. Put me in Nelson's pool, at least I know the Horseshoe boys will fish. What about the prizes?

Posts: 34 | I would like to try matchfishing this year. Can you post the rules? I followed the board last year and it looks like alot of fun. I fish almost every weekend anyway. I would just have to find a partner that could fish with me. When is the sign up dead line?

Posts: 427 Location: Wausau | Jonnysled and I talked about it - we would just need to know the rules of "when". We fish together every Tuesday for the Rhinelander league - would that count?

We fish together every Tuesday for the Rhinelander league - would that count? Andy as long as you have a match set up on the same day it would work. Just get ready to put some boxer shorts on your head for the photo. Setting up the matches is the most difficult part IMO. Edited by Bytor 3/7/2007 8:10 AM

Posts: 7117 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | For those of you not already familiar with MatchFISHING, it is a free event which pits anglers from across the range of the muskie against each other in fierce but friendly competition. Regardless of the waters that each team in MatchFISHING decides to hunt for the days’ competition, they are still matched up against another team (which may or not be on the same waters) who is working equally as hard to lure the elusive muskie into the boat. MatchFISHING allows for the great distances which may separate the teams involved by merely requiring that the teams “match up” on the same day. The teams are put into "pools" of teams, with 3-4 teams per pool (depending on the number of entrants this year). For the months of June, July and August, teams will match up against teams from their pool. The winner of each "pool" then goes into the tournament rounds, which run Sept, Octover and November. There is a lot more to it, and I will work to find the time to put it all into an understandable format, soon.

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Somehow this year we must figure out how to get more teams actually fishing against each other. The hardest part of this contest is to get on the water and fish against all the teams in your bracket. Lots of problems working out weekend dates because people always wanted to fish up north or on vacation. Great idea to plan this ahead like as soon as the brackets come out. Trust me it's hard to get all the matches in for most teams. I have it good being on the lake. We can fish anytime.

| what about letting teams fish different days for the pool play? most times they are hundreds of miles away from each other so conditions are never the same..this would probably make matches easier to set up..maybe allow a week window for a match? | |||

Posts: 7117 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | what about letting teams fish different days for the pool play? This is one constant that is not going to change in matchfishing. I KNOW scheduling is always going to be a tough part of the competition, but we are going to try some new rules this year to make scheduling run more smoothly. I DO appreciate any kind of input for MatchFISHING, so please keep it coming.
