I have looked at alot of lures that you all make on here, and i have been considering making my own inline spinners with silicone and flashabou.

I was just wondering what is the easiest way to attach the silicone/flashabou too the wire? How do you all do it?Do you use coil springs or do you buy brass skirt collars?

Thank U

Although by no means an expert, I have made several lately using brass skirt bodies...the magnum sized starflash silicone skirts are nice and then I make my own skirts using one pack of flashabou and a rubber skirt collar... then placing the flashabou on the inside of the silicone skirts...They look pretty good...But...I've not seen them in the water yet

The few I have made I do the following:

1) Take collar and put small piece of rubber band ortubbing on it.
2) Take your skirt material and place over the collor/tubing
3) Take a very small zip tie and secure skirt material to collar

I have tried a few other ways but I always have a few strands pull out. Putting this small band under the skirt allows the zip tie to really dig in and hold everything down. I think th ezip tie will have a much longer "hold" life than just rubber bands too. Also much quicker than using string or other tieing material.

If you find a better and faster way please let me know. Time is money!

Thanks,
James

I have seen some of these skirts with alkl that material inside the rubber band and scratch my head, I can't get that much materail through a rubber band. I use 30lb sevenstrand double wrapped though a crimp. I pull it tight with a vise grip them smash the crimp with a small vise grip. Works great. I tried zip ties but they would come undone unless I superglued them.

I use the skirt collars from stamina and a skirt maker...If you use scotch tape to tape the end of the flashabou with the metal ring on it and then cut the ring, you can thread the entire bundle of flashabou through the collar...once this is done it can be pushed on to a brass body just like a silicone skirt...If you do very many of them, its pretty tough on your fingers

I did have some zip ties go on me. I bought better ones. Never thought of a drop of epoxy cement on each one though to make sure they stay. Good idea.

Here's a tip for getting the skirt band onto the skirt body....

twist off one end of wire using tacklemakder or whatever....then cut off the wire so there is a couple inches from the twisted end to the point of the cut end...

insert the cut end into the big side of the skirt body....

then insert the cut end into the center of the flash/band and push the skirt body into the band...

Works like a charm!

If you like you can zip-tie around the band for added strength!
