There are more and more mapping cards. How do they compare? Lakemaster , Hot maps premium, Platinum , gold etc. Which have the most detail. I know the platinum are brand new and can be used only on a few units such as hummingbird. Is it time to trade in the Lowrance?

I have noticed that the Navionics Premium only work for some units. You mentioned trading in your gps, can you really do this and where? I have a magellan handheld but it does not support navionics maps

I have the Hotspots premium. But was wondering if there is anything better out there.

I used the Hotspots in my Lowrance Ifinder. It worked fine for basic navigation, but on lakes with alot of shallow rocks (LOTW) I would have to recommend the Navionics Gold. I've compared the two side by side and it was like black and white.

Just fyi, the Navionics cartography is actually used in the Magellan, as it is our info on their media. The Navionics Hot Maps product is for inland lakes, the Gold+ is for coastal and Great Lakes, and the offshore Platinum and HotMaps Platinum is the 3D that can be used in certain new 900 series Hummingbird units, Raymarine E-series and and certain Northstar units.

We run in most Lowrance/Eagle products, Hummingbird, Raymarine, Northstar and Furuno.

Any other questions, just holler. Or check out the web site: http://www.navionics.com

Larry, I have a x-15mt with all the updates. Am I still stuck with just the classic hot maps, or could I use the premium or gold series?

Classic for you. And depending on the exact X15 you have, you may not be able to use Lakemaster on an SD. You may have to send it to them to put on an MMC.

I have just about all the different chips for Wisconsin and they each have there own place. Some show lakes that other chips don't. The best over all chip IMHO is the LakeMaster chip, plus it has all the roads in the state if you decide to use your GPS in your truck.

which chip is better depends on what lakes that you fish when talking about lakemaster versus navionics. each chip has hi def lakes that the other does not. in many cases both chips are needed. chip (1ft navionics) versus green bay (3ft lakesmaster) and vermillion (1 ft navionics) versus cass and pike bay ( 1 ft lakemaster) as for the x-15, turn on your unit and see if the screen says "we lead, we find, you win" if it does then there is an new update that came out within the last couple of months. not saying it will run the navionics but i heard it might now. hope this helps

Classic is still the one. Shep is right. It is a tech issue more than anything else. Like trying to run a Window XP program in a 3.1 machine...just can't be done.

Thanks Shep & Larry. Guess I'll have to start saving for the x-28. ( just when I told the wife I don't need anything else).

Sarge, the day when you don't need anything else is just around the turn of the next millenium!
