What are your favorite jerk bait rods. How long, what action. I've tried my longer MH rods and don't like the action. Thanks in advance.

I was wondering this too. I'm thinking of getting the 6'9" St. Croix XH myself. I still like the rods under 7 feet for jerking, otherwise I slap the water all the time.

I really like my Premier 6'9" Heavy Fast; keeps me from slapping water most of the time. I bought a 69XH this winter as a companion rod, but it was so dang staut that there wasn't any give in the tip at all. I was worried about pulling baits out of the fish's mouth, so I took it back. I'm going to try a longer rod this year to see if I can modify my retrieve enough to make it work, but if I can't I'll be looking for either a used Premier 69H, or spring for the Avid.

I wonder how the 7' 6" Heavy Premier would do with jerbaits? It would also handle big crankbaits and bulldawgs too I imagine.

I have a 6'9 premier XH and love it for jerk baits and also big big plastics. It is not to stiff for setting the hook.

I also have a 7'6 premier heavy. I use this rod for swim baits and big double 10" spinner baits. I have tried it for a jerk bait rod but I am only 5'9 and I hit the water a lot and dont have confidence in how I work the bait when I don't. I also don't own a boat so if fish in several boats with people and have had different experiences with gunnel height that also effects the longer rod.

I would love to have all 7'6 rods to save my back, but I don't think I can do that for a jerk bait rod!

Tim thanks for the 6'9"XH reassurance, I think I'm still set on this rod for jerkin.

I have an ESOX 6'9" Jerkbait rod that's a joy to work with.

What baits? I use 3 different rods for jerk baits depending upon the bait and the action I want to put on them.

I have built on several jerkbait style blanks in the last couple years. In my opinion there is not a better Jerkbait rod then one built with the Diamondback Jerkbait blank. They weigh very little and are loaded with power.

I know it looks like I am promoting just Diamondback but that is really not the case. I build on all of them and it is just my honest opinion.

Hope all is well.
