I was browsing and saw that Bass Pro shops has Daiwa saltwater rods on clearance for around $15. 6'6'' through 10' lengths. Should make a pretty decent trolling rod. Also 125 yard spools of Spiderwire on clearance. Just an fyi to you folks.

Catfish rods make decent sucker and trolling rods too. I might have to check those out.

If I were you I would go with the Shimano TDR's in 8 foot heavy action.
I think they are around 30.00
Thornes has them in stock!!!

My buddy uses the cabela's trolling combos that you run the line through and he loves them...I think the combo ran 89.99 for the reel and rod...they were 8'6"ers too...he caught a 30 lb+ using them too and it handled the fish without a problem...

ugly sticks 6 ft. rods make excellent trolling rods. Also, they won't break during the late Fall. $39

Skie86 is right I like the mh 7,6 for everything 27 bucks @Fleet Farm in Wis..Great For Kings or Skeez...with 30# PP..Ugly Stick..Yea that!

Hey Rich those Diawa rods look great for a cheap boat rod...wish they had some casting versions!
