I keep all my lures in 3730 planos in my lockers in the boat. The BIG rubber baits don't fit in the planos well without bending them up. Will they spring back into shape if I cram them in the Plano? What to do? How do you store them?

Mike, buy a couple of these. Keeps your rubber baits seperate from others and easy to use. http://www.planomolding.com/content/index.cfm?siteaction=product&li...

They will be OK but do NOT mix them. You will have one enormous ball of rubber goo. If possible keep them seperate and dry. As dawgs get wet and stay wey they will occasionally start to bleed out a little color, not a lot but enough to discolor other dawgs.

Are you saying if you put two bulldawgs in the same compartment of an lure box they will "melt" or "blend" into one ball of gue?

No they will not.

I have a pile of dawgs in my garage right now, probably about 25-30 of them all piled up in a huge ball of mess. They have been there since about October, no bleeding, melting or any problems.

What I'm saying is don't mix the dawgs and curly sues, that'll be a mess. I have had it happen. If the dawgs are dry you won't have a problem. If they are wet they might bleed a little. Yes I do have a couple that have bleed out a little.

The Formula X plastic on the new swim baits and curly sues reacts with the plastic used in bulldawgs, is that what you are saying?

What exactly melts what, and is it ok to store them together as long as they aren't touching? (like in a lakewood for example)

Formula-X is not an oil based plastic and it will melt if it comes into contact with regular soft plastic baits. Currently the 6” and 9” version of both Curly Sue and Suzy Sucker are made from Formula-X. The Big 13” baits are still made from my regular plastic and these should not react with bull dawgs. You have to be careful of colors like chartreuse and other bright strong colors; these will bleed onto other baits. I would suggest that you store all soft plastics as straight as possible. If you store any soft plastic baits all bent up then they can sometimes distort when stored for long periods of time or if they are left in the sun.
Hope this helps

Andy,

I think I heard someone saying at the show this past weekend that you were in the process of working on having the 13' Curley Sue available in the Formula X, is that true? I was really impressed with that Formula X on the 6' and 9' baits.

Andy,

Do you know if there are any issues with Formula-X and lakewoods (or similar), planos (or similar), plexi, lexan, etc etc etc?

Thanks.

I will be doing a 13” version; this should be available in the summer ready for the fall. I am working on the 11”, 7oz version of the Curly Sue and Suzy Sucker, this should be ready in March. I have just completed testing on the suspending versions of the 9” baits; I am hopping to have them early March ready for the Blain show.

I think Formula-X should be ok with the tackle boxes you have listed, but to make sure I will find out. I don’t want to give you the wrong information.

I just found out that you should not have any problems with the tackle boxes you have mentioned.
