When using superlines...spiderwire stealth, cortland, power pro, etc...how often should you respool your reels?
What is the lifespan of these lines?

How much do you fish?

It last a very long time if you are only using it once a week per year.

I probably fish for muskies 40 days/year. I usually respool 1/2 way through the season. Just curious how often others respool. Didn't know whether or not I'm respooling too often?

I have been using a reel full of line for 2 seasons. After the 1st season I reverse the line onto a another reel which sends the used end of the line to the bottom of the spool for the 2nd season. After the 2nd season the line is replaced. By combining this technique with mono backing it saves a few greenbacks. 100 and 80 lb Power Pro is the line I have ben using for this.

It really does depend on how much you fish and which line you use. Some wear out quicker than others, I won't name any brands. On average I would think you should be able to use any good superbraid for two years if backed and rotated properly. If you are in rough cover you may have to respool more often. Just my thoughts.

I fish about the same amount of days per year that you do and i use the same line as you also and i am going on about 3 years without respooling. This year i might reverse the line just to freshen it up a bit.

Before I respool, I will reverse the line once. Since the superlines has less memory, you don't get the coiling like you used to with mono and older braids, so I will reverse the line and get the line that hasn't seen the water up on the top of the spool. I respool some reels more than others. Reels with lower capacities that I use more often, I will respool when I see the line losing it's quality, like color, or when it starts to fray easily.

New line on all reels on years that end with an even number, reverse the lines on years that end with an odd number. So, new line/fresh line every year.

I started with PowerPro 12 or so years ago and never tried anything else.

One spoil of line will generally last me 2 seasons. I'll reverse it in the second season, then if it's not in horrible shape use it on my backup tip-ups. So i definitely get my moneys worth.

How many days a year do you spend on the water?
How many years have you been fishing for muskies?
