My brother's boat has a bow mounted 36" shaft trolling motor. Can you buy a longer shaft and splice wires? I would get a new one for it but the nose is such that a 50" shaft would stick out 2ft out the side of the boat because of the front light plug location. This mount makes for easy removal of the motor and would I like that style. Looking for a hand control model even If I could just get a motor but the way the mounts look the motors are not removable from them.

Todd- Minnkota has the 40 ATH (All-Terrain). Hand controlled with a 48 inch shaft. The motor easily comes off the scissors bracket. However I do not believe Minnkota made an easily removable plate for the All Terrain. I mounted it on a larger homemade bow plate, and I moved the front light just about 3 inches off bow center. May be for sale if I buy a Powerdrive I am thinking about. Hope this helps.

DJ, thanks for the reply. What I would really like to have is a 55lb hand control but I am finding not having variable speeds can be a problem for perfect boat control. I wonder if the takeoff mount would handle say a hand control like I have and a foot control like a 55lb power drive or an autopilot. I fish conditions that suite both models for certain situations.
