Really, that's cool. The PR Director in DC for the Recreational Boating and Fishing folks, who are responsible for the Take Me Fishing Campaign, is a friend of ours at OutdoorsFIRST. We feature the PSA Advertisement before all OutdoorsFIRST Videos.

How much of the raffle amount will be sent to them?

I think all the shows need more of this stuff. We all come with a pocketful of $$ and most of us that do spent some cash on tackle don't mind if we give a $5/$10 on a worthy cause if it pertains to fishing. I especially like the extra bonus that it is a raffle !! Good Work Mike Hulbert.

I checked out the "Take Me Fishing" link. Seems like a pretty cool organization. Mike & John, you should mention that's the organization that is going to benefit from the raffle on the thread on Mike's site, too. That might help drum up a little more interest for what is obviously a good cause.

What exactly is the mission of the takemefishing.org? I went to the site is it just to give information about how to fish or how to teach kids to fish? I've sen this site advertised for some time now and have been to the site several times. Shouldnt there be somewhere where kids can log onto the site looking for someone to actually take them fishing? I'm not trying to bad talk the organization I'm just curious as to what their overall goal is. I think that if we truly want to get kids involved we need to have somewhere for them to go to find people to fish with. I know that I would love to take some younger kids out fishing, I know all sorts of spots around my area that would keep these kids entertained and catching fish.

It is. Angler's Legacy is the national mission from 'Take me fishing'. They published a handbook for those involved, and it's an excellent resource. Did you know that more than 80% of the money for fisheries management comes from the fees, licenses, and taxes anglers pay, and the quality of our future fisheries depends on increasing the number of anglers out there on the water? 90% of the fishermen today were introduced to the sport by another angler. Take a look at http://www.anglerslegacy.org/default.aspx?id=755, and offer to take the pledge to 'take someone fishing'.

This organization is dedicated to promote boating and fishing, and works with industry partners to do exactly that. The 'grass roots' application Pointer asks about comes from the Angler's Legacy Partners, Associates, Industry Pros, Fishing Shows on TV, and even organizations like MuskieFIRST. That's why we placed the Take Me Fishing PSA as a lead in to all our OutdoorsFIRST videos onsite, this is a great group!

Angler's Legacy advises Fishing Pros, Guides, Fishing show Personalities, and Media folks like those here at Muskiefirst:

'Your goal is to motivate; to encourage fishing mentorship with genuine enthusiasm, integrity and conviction for the purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of others and the future of our sport.'

I'd submit that should be a major portion of the goals of all sportsmen and women today. Take someone fishing!

Mr. Hulbert and others like him are certainly is prime candidates to forward the message from Angler's Legacy, their high profile and willingness to take someone fishing for a benefit or other charitable reason and their general presence in the fishing related media makes them so. Just look at the Breyer Silent Auction underway right now if you want examples of folks who can and regularly DO carry this message to the public.

the ring blings are hot!!! if you were a double bladed bucktail fan in 2006 your gonna want to have these in 2007!!! we will also have alot of other baits to check out as well along with my stealth leaders, and most important come by and talk muskies with mike if you are truly looking for trophy muskies in indiana you should really consider a day on the water with mike, he can take your indiana musky fishing to a new level, if targeting trophy fish is what your after! as well as discuss some summer options in minnesota!!!...be sure to stop and say hi! one note on the raffle, aside from wanting to contribute some money to a good cause we felt it was time to bring a little fun back into the shows..... since show specials have seem to fallen to the wayside in years past..nobody is to blame costs skyrocket these days when the tempature changes, people are forced to raise prices along with that, and profit margins become smaller and smaller, lets face it it gets tough!!! so we thought it would be really cool to send a few folks home this weekend with some pretty cool bait packages as well as a guide date! hope everyone has a great weekend at the show!

Ill second the thought of Blings bein hot!! They are awesome baits, a heavier head allows them to get down pretty deep on your retrieve and if you wanna fish em fast, theres not even a thought of them blowing out of the water. Kevin is on to something huge with this design. Ive personally witnessed one fifty, a fourty seven and a lower 40's fish on it all in one day.
