Posts: 785 | "Time on the Water" is one of the best musky books I have ever read. Other titles I liked are Muskies Suck, The Greatest Musky Stories Ever Told, Muskies on the Shield, and the two fishing hotspots books. I have a couple more but I haven't got them read yet.

Eductational: Muskies on the Shield, although I want to get the Second Edition Complete Guide to Musky Fishing also. Entertainment: Time on the Water.

Posts: 1462 Location: Davenport, IA | I really like Time on the Water. Some great all around educational books are Muskies Maina Style and The Complete Guide to Musky Hunting. Joe Bucher's Crankbait secrets is a great book as well, but is about crankbait fishing for multiple species (including muskies). Thats all I've read for muskie books, but I'd recommend them all.

Posts: 574 | Yeah, I just got the second edition Complete Guide To Musky Hunting 2 days ago. Lots of good info so far, nice table of contents for quick refrence. Its the only one book I have so I have nothing to compare it to, but its pretty much what I was hoping for.

Posts: 551 Location: Columbus, Georgia | I recently received The Complete Guide To Musky Hunting. Even as a newbie (2nd season), I was somewhat disappointed. The information throughout the topics is very fundamental (not that the fundamentals are not important ...). I would say that anyone that consistently reads the monthly publications cover-to-cover (ESOX Angler & Musky Hunter) might be disappointed by the general nature of the book, and lack of depth in each of the areas covered. Muskies On The Shield taught me a lot. Dick Pearson is surely not one to gloss over anything. Just my own personal opinion. Craig

Posts: 199 | The great big muskie book by Eli Singer I am just finishing it and other than a little excessive on the Louie Spray stuff it is a good book.

Posts: 45 Location: Brooklyn Park | Muskies on the shield is a good read. I was not a huge fan of time on the water. It was written well but provided zero fishing information and knowledge. Its format is nice but for me lack of the strategies and overall fishing info will not allow it to be read again. All of the Rizzo books are real good. Lots of info. Just my 2 cents. Brian Maxey

If you are a voracious reader the Eli Singer books are amazing - I am shocked more people don't comment on them. There is definitely some anti- spray stuff (alot), but the interviews may go down as some pretty significant history some day. If you are a into northwoods lore, and in depth biographical info on tons of the top guides and some I had never heard of, buy all four of these books. Tons of fun, and lots of good nuggets buried deep. These books will be classics. The new book by Buckshot Anderson, though thin, is awesome as well. I picked it up at the grocery store in St. Germain in October and read it in one sitting. Great old time guide stories.

Larry Ramsell's Compendium of Musky Angling History is pretty hard to beat, some of the record fish info is "outdated". It has more pictures and stories about big muskies than any other book I have ever saw, Larry did a great job on putting all that info together in a very interesting way, I reread mine every winter. A lot of people have forgoten about some of the things that Larry"s contributed to our great sport because of turmoil last year. Hey Larry how about a update I know you have somethings to up date. randy
