| what kind of creatures do you guys use for muskies and how do you fish these? I read something about it in a speeech by Dick Gries. He used jigs and creatures for fall muskies.
I was thinking about using large grubs and shads more often but I really don't know when and where these may be better than other lures. |

| I use several body styles, including a reaper/lizard hybrid, a Kalin's twister, and the old Fliptail creature. All work all the time. I don't like the shad bodies very much, so I rarely use them.
There are two articles on the main page about creature fishing, hope they help! |

| Dirk, I fish a lizard on a jig a lot. Also just a regular Bass jigs with pork frog works good for the times when the fish want a little smaller target. I am shipping some stuff your way this week so i will include a few jigs and trailers that work for me. Let me know what the water clarity is in the areas that you fish. I will be able to match colors a little better then. Mike

| Mike, thanks a lot!!!!!! The waters I fish are relatively clear, some drains are a bit off-color (slightly stained) near the fall.
Do the size of these reapers or lizards make a hughe difference? I was just browsing through Moore's Lures' new catalog and they had three size of lizards.
Do you fish these in midwater or just near the bottom? We do a lot of jig-fishing (vertically) in wintertime with large shads for pike and with 4-5" shads for zander (family of walleye).

| Here are several of the styles I use including the Fliptail and Super creature. Jim Cairnes and I came up with the Super creature in the late 70's, the Fliptail was mine from when I worked with Stembridge Products, now long gone. The Creature Packs were from 1979 when I still owned the company. There have been may hybrids from these designs since.
The jigs are Herbie models from Bait Rigs ( a VERY nice jig, I might add), and my Dad's Diamond head. The little lizard is a Thunder Lizasrd, I think.[] |
