I could use some help/advice/info from the folks in the metro area. There is a high probability (I just have to decide) that I will be joining part of the metro team of your favorite state agency this spring. The office I will be working at will be in Eden Prairie. Does anybody have anything to suggest in the way of finding a place to live and how much I can expect to pay in rent for just me and my dog? Any areas to avoid? How is living in the southwest metro? I'm sure the fishing is not what I'm used to and is overcrowded (I'm not equipped for Tonka), but are there any ducks to shoot at?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

As for the ducks, they all left minnesota about 6-7 years ago and now they all live in Canada and North dakota. The geese are everywhere though and they have long and liberal seasons on those!!

All depends on were you want to live, EP can be a little spendy, if you move out about 10-20 minutes ST Boni, you might find cheaper rate anywere from 600-1000, depending on what you want, dog, do you have a boat.

Were does fenner live? hehe, SW suburbs are all pretty safe.

Plenty of water close, lot of 200-1000 acre lakes close by.

Duck and geese plenty of them, I don't think the other in the park will like you shooting you shotgun. 4 hours to Dakotas??????

Come to the Twin Cities Muskie Inc Meeting, this will be great chance to meet some fellow musky heads, and you can get on the water with some of the members.

I think the Star Tribune has listing of the classifieds on line

you will forget about ducks and geese when you get taken on a 'ruffled grouse' hunt we have plenty of em.
Eden Prarie is considerd pricy but is very nice alot of the Vikings live there,, in fact if you bass fish its heaven,,all the little lakes there and along hwy 5 are jammed full of fun jumping 1 1/2 to 2 1/2 lb largemouths, 15-20 fish days.
I suggest you rent the Movie 'Fargo" here in Minn its considered a 'documentary'

LMFAO eh!

Too bad he wasn't moving to Hayward, he'd have to rent "Blood Hook" for that "documentary".

Check in Hopkins, St. Louis Park, or Minnetonka area. I am moving soon from that area, but like it very much. Quick access to freeways, and you can get to EP pretty easily from there. As far as rent goes...look around. The place I was recently renting was 1 bedroom, 1 bedroom/den, 1 bath, and a 1 car attached garage for just over a grand/month.

I work in Eden Prairie, yet my income suggests that I live 26 miles west in Mayer, MN. IF you don't mind a 35 minute ride in, it is much more affordable out in the agricultural lands and small little, but growing towns. Plus I am only 5 minutes from Lake Waconia and 15 minutes from Tonka.

Look to the South or to the West of Eden Prairie for more affordable living
