Looking for advice as to which body of water to hit on opening day/opening week. My gut instinct says the Ottawa, but I don't know much about the St. Lawrence muskie fishing in early summer.

Maybe more importantly, who do I contact in terms of guides or muskie clubs in the Ottawa/Kingston/Gananoque/Mallorytown area (I know that's a big range but that's about an hours drive in all directions from my summer job near Perth, ONT).

I'd go with the Ottawa. It's brown water warms much quicker in the early summer than the clear water of the St.Lawrence.This is especially true near the 1000 islands area which is fed by the cold waters of Lake Ontario. You should find more active fish earlier in the warmer waters of the Ottawa.
