Location: Germantown, WI | I've been having some success using tail gunners on suckers lately but can't seem to keep them attached. How do you guys attach them? I've tryed around the rear fin and vent but them seem to pull out pretty easily.
Thanks

Location: The Yahara Chain | I attach them to a walleye hook and just put the hook right into the meat of the sucker near the tail on the bottom side of the sucker. |

Location: oswego, il | I don't use tail gunners but I think on larger suckers they would work alot better. The above mentioned way is the best way. I use 12-16" suckers and find I even have to be careful of hook weight to keep the suckers in an upright position and not tire them out. A tail gunner would probably just have a smaller sucker hang vertical in the water. |

Location: Verona, WI | Does anyone have a good system for using a tail gunner without a hook? I had a fish grab a sucker with the tail gunner and take the bait and always wondered if that hook in the tail gunner was a going to be a big deal to the fish.

| use one of those cheap squared snap swivels. Attach a small split ring to the eye, then attach blade. clip the snap to a suckers fin and close the snap. use a small blade, like a #1 or #2. If the muskie swallows it, it wont hurt it as it passes. |

| On Eagle, we use 16-22" suckers....I use a very small hook, and bury it in the gristle around the rear vent hole. It almost never comes out. As well, I use # 3's for all the bigger suckers, and anything under 16", if we can't get the big ones, I use # 2's.
Hooks gets attached to the swivel.....
Swivel gets attached to the small split ring.....
Split ring gets attached to the blade.
There are four parts...blade, split ring, swivel, hook!
Hope this helps!!
