Posts: 567 | results from 2 weekends ago trinity trail were pretty bleak --maybe firstsixfeet will see this thread and give you a more recent report. no news on the ky angling site either. another tourney about a month ago did'nt have good results either. Maybe a poor fall at GR. MD

Posts: 392 Location: KY | I fished it for a day in late October with nothing to show for it. Other reports say it has been tough, we have had a lot of rain lately and they have been drawing it hard. Regardless, I hope to be there this weekend. The US Army Corps of Engineers website http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/crl/default.htm shows the surface temp at 59.5 and the level at -4ft from summer pool. That is right at the winter draw-down schedule. We had about an inch of cold rain today which should drop the water temp. It may also mean that they will open up the dam again. Based on the temp http://www.lrl.usace.army.mil/wc/wq/grrtext.html it looks like it will turn over soon. Good Luck Bruce

A friend told me he was down there this past weekend and he said he got two fish. I used to fish this lake once a week. When the draw down to place I would fish by the dam and near the river channel. I think the lake's current picked up. Maybe try the hump by the dam. I usually threw big jerks and cranks during the fall with good success. Hope this helps.

Posts: 392 Location: KY | B I fish both. I can get to either one in about an hour and a half. The last couple of years I have spent more time on Green. I fished Buckhorn for the first time this year I may spend some more time over there. It looked good. The cave is too crowded for me. I only get 4 or 5 trips a year total. Bruce

Posts: 2361 | Green has sucked for me this fall. Water conditions have been the main problem, imo, but my fishing might also suck. Who knows? Two things, there seems to be a great supply of larger shad, most in last few years since die off, and there seems to be a low population of the 30-35" fish that make up the bulk of the fall casting bite, but that may be just because the water has been so out of sync at times I am not finding them. I think with stable water we should start to see the bigger fish regardless.

Posts: 392 Location: KY | I fished all day today from Emerald Isle to Russell Branch. Nada. I am O for two this fall on GRL. I blame it on the conditions. They were pulling water again and the surface temp was 54-49 which would indicate turnover. The 80’ temp last week was 53.4. The only place I could find bait was in 30+ feet of water near the mouth of coves. I tried some vertical jigging for the first time but had a hard time with the wind. Glad I had plenty of fleece and a good jacket. It was cold and wet today. bballbulldawg Good Luck this week. Bruce

Posts: 2361 | Yep, looks like they were pulling 2 grand + today, and dropping it. There are some problems involved with the cooling water and the dropping levels, besides keeping the lake murked up over most of the basin. That should finish it off. The upper lake had already turned a while back. Edited by firstsixfeet 11/19/2006 11:13 PM
