Hey MuskieFirsters,

Having broken a couple of my 8'6" rods this year, I am trying to round up a few more 8'6" rods, like the Tica collapsible or the 8'6" All-Star.

Can anyone help this poor, uninformed, fisherman kind of guy??

Thanks,
Donnie

I have used the 8'6 Tica's alot this year and really like them.

I have have been using it this fall for throwing Mag Dawgs, Pounders and the BIG Suzie Sucker.

Very nice rod. Light weight, strong as can be, and for $100 you can't beat it.

Maybe, D&S Donnie. I got a Tica there this spring.
I will call Gene and see if he has any.

i just picked up a used one of each (XH and H) of the 8'6" Ticas.

Gave them a workout this weekend and like them.

I bought them for coldweather, as I can afford to replace them if they blow up (unlike my Diamondbacks)

Only thiing I am not sure of yet it the telescoping thing...

I think I might pick one up this Winter. Will they fit into a 7 foot rodbox ? I will do a google search but would like a little more info on where to get them in Ind.IL. or Wis. ? How about a 8 footer or is the 8.6 the way to go ? Thanks.

Don't worry about the telescoping handle.

I have had ZERO problems with that, and I know my fellow musky guide and buddy Lee Tauchen also uses them and has not had a problem with them.

Go with the 8'6 XH, and yes it will fit in your rod box.

If I read the Rollie & Helen's web site right, the 8'6" Tica collapes to 7'6", so you would need a 8' to fit in a 7' rod locker.

Donnie, they do not make the Western Inshore series of All Stars anymore...you might find them at some of the swaps at the musky show used but I highly doubt you find one new on the shelves...the Tica's were modeled directly after that line of rod and I have casted the x heavy Tica and I think it is very close to the All Star..the All star might be just a touch stiffer towards the tip....I think you will like the Tica's..for 115 bucks you can't go wrong..if you don't want it to "telescope" put some epoxy on it and make it stay in place....

My work had about 15 - 20 of the TICA rods this year. Last one sold about a week ago, and I have not heard 1 bad thing yet. The manager at the west side told me he sold a bunch also, and had nothing but good reviews.

I just might pick up an 8'6" when we get more in stock. Very light, and with the tele handle it will actuall fit in the bed of my truck. Those of you with a 6 foot bed in your truck like me know 7'6 is the limit if you dont want it hanging out the back.
