The most productive bucktail I've ever used would have to be a a double bladed bucktail of any color. But my favorite color would be white with silver blades.

I have always been fortunate using a Rizzotail with yellow hair.

I mainly use Ghosttails, Rabid Squirrels, Bootails and Joe's. Depending on what color pattern I am looking for usually steers me towards a brand.

Bootails because of the flame blade. Joe's because of the squirell tail. Ghosttails because of the green perch pattern and the Rabid's for the coil over wire lighter weight for over weeds in the summer.

It's still tough to beat a Mepps Musky Killer or Bucher 700 for all around good tails. A lot of the others already mentioned get fish too.

Depending on water clarity, colors will vary but in the spring, Mepps Musky Killers, then Giant Killers throughout the rest of the season. Kdawg

Spinline single tails because they are the right weight to bulge easily. The Indiana Blades have that certain thump. A black one gave me a 9 fish day this year. The double tail has so much hair you would think you were back in the 80's. Kingfisher

Mepps Maribou! To be honest, I dont think I have caught a muskie on any other bucktail. If there is a hot bucktail bite I always have one on while the other person usually throws a flasher, buchertail, land o lakes, etc.

I prefer a Sugartale by Berg Lures. Color depending on conditions and which lake.

I am happy with a mepps #5, a tandem mepps, a funky chicken?(not sure what Shumway calls his straight bucktail), and a magnum bootail. I am sure there are other good tails, but those give a nice range of size and speed, and provide a nice rotation of bucktails. I am pretty sure that there is usually a best bucktail on any given lake, and any given day, and that you won't always hit it on the nose, but your should have at least a small rotation to offer a choice.

My favorites are the LLungen Tails hands down. There is something about those skirts that make them crack for fish. They are built like a tank and that shrink wrapped hook seals the deal for me!
There are some new Llungen Tails in the works...keep your eyes out for them too!
My second favorite are any of Shumway's Flashers or Hot Tails.

When the fish are on a bucktail bite, Man is that the best!

Double Cowgirl is the ticket. Great bucktail to throw at night and just about anytime. BN got me hooked on those things. Thanks Brad, now my pocket book is lighter...haha
Going to be making plenty of those double bladed bucktails this winter. Boy, it is going to be a long....winter.

If it wasn't made by me, I don't own it. Not a big differance between brands. Find what kind of hair you want and what kind of blade.
