Posts: 333 Location: menasha wi 54952 | Memory lane is right!!! I personally think the Stalkers are way better than the L&Ls. The L&Ls only have two hooks. For me that meant poor hookups. Although a longer rod may help in that department. I love the deep diver/suspending version of either bait. They are a great open water fish catching lure. They were the Bulldog of their day. A few years back Rod Grimme of Lip Ripper lures was trying to add the Stalker to his line. I am not sure where he is with that. Good luck getting some!!!! Posts: 578 Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI | Thanks again for ALL of the feedback, information and comments guys. I knew that there had to be people out there that had some insight on these baits. I have a Stalker as well. I still like my L&L though. I like what I believe is the one that Jason S. likes, the one that rises a little quicker. I like how it "backs up" back into the face of the fish. If anyone knows where I may be able to get my hands on one or two more of the original L&L's, please let me know. I would be more than happy to trade for them. I think that the green "L&L" on the belly of the bait is what is triggering the fish.  LOL Actually, so many people purchase companies and try to duplicate the baits, but they are never the same. They try to improve something that works fine already. IF the same blanks are being used that are made by the same person from years gone by, these may be different in that they are still what I am looking for. I also like the simplistic look of the bait when compared to the baits made by many of the companies today. Simple baits for simple minds I guess. LOL Glad to take you down memory lane Mr. Long. I think that many people get wrapped up in all of the new baits and forget about the old reliables from yester-year. Heck, many of the guys on here were probably not even born yet when these were the baits to go with. How I got hooked on them was from a guy in college at Point. I wish I could remember his name, but we had some classes together. The name Chris keeps coming to mind. He was a musky head as well from I believe Appleton. Heck, he may be someone that is a regular on this board. I believe he was doing some testing for the guys and he knew I was headed to the Three Lakes Chain for a weekend. He let me use one of his that was a brighter green. I saw a musky on it and caught a pike. I liked it so much that I went and purchased one when I saw them in a store. Using some of the old baits and catching fish on them is fun. Heck, catching fish period is fun. Like I said before though, I would like to get my hands on one or two more of the originals. I am sure that there are guys out there that just have them collecting dust in their garage. I say garage because most people probably do not even keep them in their tackle box any longer. They are probably sitting on some shelf or burried in some box with a bunch of other baits that are not used any longer. Chuck | ||

Posts: 333 Location: menasha wi 54952 | Mr Long, I agree. "Self fulfilling prophecy"....."Confidence"....."Go to lure". They are all the same. Its more of getting a good one. You know the 1/10 that dances on a straight retrieve and really moves with little or no effort. I have lots of "deadwood" that do nothing. I have a few that are good but have been munched so bad Im worried they only have a few fish left in them!!! Isnt she a pretty.....how can something that ugly catch that many fish? Location: Munster, IN | We have added a "stalker" style bait to our line. We improved on the paint finish, the quality of wood used, weighting system and hooks. I tested some today and the action is just awesome. So easy to work for a dive/rise jerk bait it is insane. We have both the shallow runner and a deep runner styles.
