MuskieFirst is pleased to announce an expanded list of sponsors for out Fall Trophy Outing to Presque Isle. First and foremost we should acknowledge Adam Johnson for arranging us such a great deal on lodging and meals at Skyview Lodge and Carlin Lake Lodge. http://www.skyviewlodge.com/ http://www.carlinlakelodge.com/ For those of you looking for a guide for the weekend, check with Adam to see if he or Forbes Taylor is available when you're up there. Howie Meyer is providing us with a wealth of information, to include guidance and tips on some of the area waters: action, trophy, etc. He is booked for the weekend as a guide, but even those of us who aren't fortunate enough to be in his boat will benefit from his guidance. Keep him in mind for future trips: http://www.sevenislandsguideservice.com/ Hint: Check his site for up-to-date fishing reports as the outing approaches! ----- BIG FISH AWARD: Mike Bromelow (Musky Snax) has donated a beautifully carved and painted giant crankbait. This prize will go to the outing participant who catches the biggest fish between Thursday - Saturday. Thanks MuskySnax! http://www.muskysnax.com/ ----- ALL PARTICIPANTS: John Bette (muskihntr) has added a donation of Stealth Tackle leaders. He is donating around forty (40) leaders to make sure that every person attending the outing gets one. Additional leaders will be available for purchase during the outing, including both casting and trolling models. Contact John by private message on this site, or watch for his leaders in the buy/sell/trade forum! Stealth Tackle is also sponsoring "happy hour" on one of the outing nights by purchasing one keg of beer to be shared by outing participants. This is sure to be a most popular donation! ----- DOOR PRIZES: Luke Breyer (Baldy) of Muskie Mojo is donating a custom outing pattern Wabull glider along with a number of Double-X bucktails. (those bucktails work reeeeaalllly good. i'm not saying, i'm just saying.) http://muskiemojo.com/ Gary Heck (GMan) from Lunker Bait Co. has donated three (3) baits: a glider, a topwater, and a crankbait. If you see one pop up in the buy/sell/trade forum, be sure to get your hands on one of his quality lures. http://lunkerbaits.tripod.com/ Dave Jahnsen (hermit) has donated ten (10) of his floating jawspreaders. Never lose one in the lake again! http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=27... Todd Minor (ToddM) has donated six (6) bucktails with rubber skirt bodies and holographic blades. Sharp looking baits, and a nice variety of colors. You can contact Todd via private message on this site if you're interested in custom bucktails or fluorocarbon leaders. Jason Long (jlong) and Long Tale Tackle generously donated one (1) hotshot spinnerbait in the proven black/orange color pattern. http://www.longtaletackle.com/ ----- Thanks to all of our Fall Trophy Outing sponsors! Posts: 2037 Location: lansing, il | sometimes just saying thanks in this day and age isnt enough..muskiefirst and a few other websites have been very kind to me and have been a instumental part of getting my new business (stealth tackle)up and running....one of the problems with starting up a new business is everyone has their hands in your pocket before you can even make a dime...(mainly state, govt, accountants, lawyers yada yada etc etc...) i dont want to go into all of that..anyway the nice thing is that this site and a few other sites make it easy to help get the ball rolling and i am more than overly appreciative of the people who run these things. without them id be nowhere! so helping out with the outing was kinda a no brainer. and as far as a few beers go well thats just how i like to say thanks!!! good luck to everyone on the outing!!!

so as you're heading up north for the fall outing, one strategy might be to hope you win some of the cool prizes shown above provided by our outing sponsors... but if you have to stop at a local tackle shop to get ready, what are some of the "must haves" for people fishing late into the fall???

Posts: 8799 | One thing I have yet to get is a sucker rod -- I'm not very comfortable using my graphite sticks when the temperature could be well below freezing. I also like to keep a spare reel on the inside pocket of my rain gear in case one freezes up you can switch and have a warm one on while you're thawing the other one inside your coat.

Posts: 2323 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Plenty of WARM clothes! Nothing makes a trip worse than not being warm enough. If you think you have enough warm clothes, pack more! You just never know what kind of conditions we will run into that time of the year. Also, for me, I always take along two pairs of boots and gloves, never know when you might need that extra pair.

Posts: 7058 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Just a heads up to those attending, or will be fishing the area....I recieved this PM from Howie Meyer about recent fishing: Not bad at all actually. Got a day off today(Thank God). Its snowing ,blowing, whitecapping, ect. Live bait fishing is picking up and will only get better.Large soft plastics doing well also.Ive been throwing a VERY large version of Shack attacks 12" susie sucker.I took the the paddle tail off and added a Kalin bigN on the back. Now Heavier than hell, but its 16" now without the tail stratched straight. Looks mighty good tho and have taken even smaller mid 30 muskies on it 46.5 biggest so far on it.Air temps are actually ok 35 today .This much wind we dont need tho. Should improve and weather patterns could actuall be more comfortable for your outing. Its alll about the wind speed. Youcan be very comforatble at 20 degrees air temp with light wind or miserable at 39 defrees and hiwh winds.Back out tomorow so enjoying my day off *because I am such a nice guy, I called Smokey's a few minutes ago and they do have Suzy Suckers left. *they also carry Live Action Lures Big Joes, and Musky Innovations Bull Dawgs. My guess is that its going to be a soft plastic/sucker bite, so unless you'll be throwing a 6" creature like Mr. Worrall (and having said that he will boat fish bigger than me on this tactic), you might want to give Smokey's a call and get your plastic fix on. 262-691-9659 Anything else to add here Howie?
