| Planning on running 6 baits behind the boat this weekend: 2 flying far out on boards far from the boat, 2 flying on boards inside, and two down rods. Dumb question though, what do you do when an inside board rod goes off with a fish? I'm shooting big this weekend, so a better question is, what do we do when a 55"er takes the inside board bait?

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Done this many times. Keep the boat in a forward motion, just enough to keep pressure on the fish yet not to drag it. Your partner can clean the down rods while the board is being brought to the boat. I usually slightly turn the boat in the opposite direction of the side that the board was on, bringing it directly in back of the boat, then straightening back out.
Chinese fire drill, yes. Even better when an outside board gets ripped.

Location: Racine, Wi | The other thing you can do, is just run 2 board rods, then run the boat rods clean, and 2 down rods. Just make sure you have different lengths of rods for your boat and down rods, and that should give you a good spread. Other than that, the boys ahead hit it perfect.
Oh yeah, and the first thing you do when the rod gets ripped is say FISH ON!!! Yeah baby!!! |

Location: north central wisconsin | Do you guys tend to start out with a 'set' of the same type of lure/same line length, then switch from there??? I usually do that, thinking if I see fish caught by others, I can switch up the whole set. I end up switching one or two though, quite soon, and end up with a varied set. Just wondering what others do... |

| we normally run compatible baits for speed and colors vary till we contact fish. the big thing with multiple rods is when the fish are off and guys put out funky stuff. when they go they miss the bite. always leave your meat and potato baits out.. just change a couple at a time |

Location: Minnesota | I mix em up. Big to small and shallow to 20 feet. I of course drag a Grunt  and also like shorter Grandmas and Jakes. I have also put on some big keel weights and pulled around big spinner baits and bucktails in the 10-15 foot range. Mix it up until you get something and then do that on all rigs for a while. Nice if you have three or four people in the boat for more lines out. Hard for one in the boat in MN to "mix it up".... One at a time if your alone. . . . . . .
