Location: Nebraska | I just bought a new to me 2000 Ranger R83 and wanted to add a GPS unit. I saw in the "what do you drive" thread a few with the Lowrance 332c, which was my first choice. What do you use or suggest in that price range if other than the 332c. If you have a 332c I would be interested in your review of the unit. Also, do you suggest Navionics or another brand of map software?
Thanks,
Stein |

I recently chose a LCX-17M over the LMS-332C. Feature for feature they are pretty much the same. The 17 has a larger screen and more peak to peak power. The 332 has a color screen and the 17 does not. I have had problems seeing the color screen in the sun. That and the fact the 17s were on sale for $450 complete in July is why I chose it. I couldnt go wrong. It is awesome.

I have both Lakemaster and Navionics chips. Lakemaster detail is way better but has limited lakes and is limited to a single state. Navionics covers a larger area and on some lakes is better. Its a toss up. If you mostly fish in one state I would go with the lakemaster. In a few years they will both come out with new versions and we will be spending some more money:-)
