I'll be up front, this post is giving props to my Friend Ryans Musky lures.

Just got off the phone with my buddy Chuck. We were discussing how the fishing has piucked up overall the past couple weeks. I mentioned though, that my topwater production, especially on hawg wobbler type lures(that are usually money right now) has been way down, and I asked if he'd been doing anything on top. That is when he broke in. He first of all said thanks for reminding him to take the 'lure' along a couple weeks ago. See, Chuck got a 650 Wobbler from Ryan this spring, and told I him to try it in the fall if he could. All summer, I'd ask if he'd been throwing it, and he said yes but with no luck. A couple weeks ago, I mentioned the lure again and asked if he'd tried during the early fall peak yet. He said he didn't but that he would throw it in the box one more time. Well, it has been two weeks since I'd talked to him, and he has gotten 6 Muskies on that bait in about four afternoons of fishing with it. The first night he got a couple including a 49". The next time out he got a nice one fishing with a regular from this board. This past weekend, Chuck got a few more, including a 50 1/2" Musky on the same 650 Wobbler, then had to come home to work. He said the lure has been simply amazing. I told him I was happy for him, which was tongue in cheak, 'I want to throw you accross the room'.... He asked if Ryan was going to make any more of these wobblers, as some dudes in NE WI have been asking about it. I talked to Ryan this morning, and he said that he'd be making 40 of them as soon as he can. I had gotten a few messages here, and emails asking about them too, and thought I'd just post here to let anyone who wants one, know to call Ryan if interested(715) 213-2056. Again, it is getting late in the season, and the lures are not made yet, but he was going to get started on them today, and one should at least have them for ice fishing, and next year.

Last thing, Chuck is one of the best/luckiest Musky anglers alive today. The results above may be somewhat skewed in that regard...LOL.

I was the "regular" that witnessed the ~47 incher on Ryans bait. The kicker is, about 10 minutes later one about the same size smoked the wobbler but Chuck didn't get a hook in it.

I use to throw the old hawg wobbler, then converted a while ago to Lee's top H2O, but after seeing Ryans bait I am going to have to put in my order, its the next step up in my mind. Has great sound and I like how you can move it faster than most yet maintain the action...

Great baits Ryan....When you get your baits done, I am in for an all black!

Cory

Oh, and Chucks results are skewed, BUT, they are CONSISTENTLY skewed! The man can catch big fish!

No doubt Cory. The dude is mr. auto. Glad I can say he has at least sat in my boat a few times. Wish more had rubbed off. Didn't mention all the sizes of fish from above, but they were all good ones.

Regarding speed on the wobbler, that is exactly what I have been asking about for a few years. I hjave lots of slow deliberate jobs, including some of his earlier wobblers. I needed a faster one, a bit more subtle, with a good sounding spinner. The one Mouldys Husky wobbler, a Broken Log from G-Log fame, and the 650 prototype I got from Ryan a couple years ago, have allowed me to leave the other ones at home as I can do both with them. Reeling sloooooooow sometimes sucks, especially after one of my wifes' iced mochas, and a dose of Zakk and BLS, cranked, on the way to the landing. As the long johns come out we back it off to some Waylon and hot chocolate.

I was out with Jason a few weeks ago. Jason brought this bait out and was telling me about it and showing me how it ran. I was really impressed by how it ran and could easily tell that it would be a fish catcher! We didnt have much luck that evening but I think a lot of that was due to the low water levels in the area. Definately a bait worth purchasing and throwing!

This bait has definatly sparked my interest! I love the TOP H20's action but have yet to catch one on that bait on the River. I throw it quite often when a topwater bite is on but have not induced a strike yet. I do find that on some days my patience is too thin to throw a slower bait. I prefer the Chopper by Lee Tauchen for faster retreives. Count me in for this wobbler bait.

To clarify though, it is a totally different lure than Tauchens top h20. Lees lure is awesome in the way the joint is cut, and really makes a racket. Ryans is a bit more subtle with the rounded joint. One really needs them both...

I'll have pics soon.

Have to agree w/ everyone. Different sound and I think a faster back and forth motion, plus the head of mine
comes up and nearly out of the water occasionally making a totally different plop. Rear spinner bigger to make
a lot of bubble trail too.
Like all of Ryan's lures made like a tank w/ thru wire, great craftsmanship and a great paint job.
Give him a call 715-213-2056, great guy to talk with and can make you up anything you can dream up.
Try one of his big Tapdancers they are my favorite by far.

I have seen this Ry wobbler one night fishing with Jason. this bait is sweet. in the couple hours i saw it in action i think we lost 2 and had blow ups wide open on it. You can reel it as fast as you want and it has a unbelievable hoggie sound, but with a little diferent sound. Definately a killer bait. I know i'm getting one before next year.
