Location: Clintonville, WI | The only time I PREFER a Super Top Raider is in the rain.....otherwise, I reach for the Top Raider.
Color doesn't affect my choice much, but I do like the darker patterns like loon and black widow, but also the baby duckling pattern in both baits. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I like the super as well in the rain or in heavy windier situations. The super makes a little more noise I think and moves more water in my opinion. Not sure if it's right but...That is where I have seen the most signifigance. |

Location: The desert | I like the regular top raider in bullfrog pattern, I think that is all around a good bait. I do like the super top raiders in baby loon and coot. I would throw either in any situation.

| You will never hear any topwater bait tackle manufacturer admit it, but color on a topwater is irrelevant, as long as the color is not "vanishing" or "invisible". Looking up at a dark object with a light background (the sky) prevents the fish from being able to effectively discern color distinctions on the bait. Especially so, considering the placement of the muskie's eyes on its head: the fish loses a visual sight of its prey when it is about to eat. And it would only be at that close range that a fish could discern color distinctions, if at all. Do you think a muskie hits a topraider because of the baby loon spots on the back of the bait? Pick a dark color bait only becaue it has the best silouette against a light background. |
