Posts: 155 Location: North Metro | Anyone here have this boat? If so, what is your opinion of it and what likes/dislikes do you have on it? I am looking at one of the 2005 models with a 150 Merc on it.

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | That boat has the new interior in it, so the balance, storage, rod locker, livewell, and seating will be completely different than a 2004 model or earlier. The boat can accept a rear deck module that doubles as storage with gull wing lids, and in a few minutes, it's an Esox Deep V. The locker will take a 8' rod no problems. Lambeau has a GC, he can answer some of this. I fished the hull for a few years and liked to alot, in fact I liked it enough to order a 1760GC for my new 2007 150 Mercury Opti Max a few weeks ago.

Posts: 7083 Location: Northwest Chicago Burbs | Lambeau is running a 1760, but its a tiller. He might have some thoughts on it. Steve W has run one in the past, and has one with a 150 on it, on order. I run a 1700, which is pretty similar, so MAYBE I can answer some questions on it?

I run a 2006 1760 with a yammy F150. I absolutely love the boat for just about everything i've used it for. I fish primarily walleye tournaments and put it through quite a test this year at green bay, and let me say I could not believe what a 17ft boat can do in 4-5 ft waves. As far as the ride goes though, you MUST prop the boat right. As far as fishability i would say i do as much casting/jigging from the front of the boat as i do trolling from the back. I'm a fairly big guy (6'1 and 225) and with two people in the back trolling there is enough room to not be running into each other all the time. And the front of this boat is HUGE, lots of room for rods and casting. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions please feel free to ask! Brian Kordus

i agree on everything mentioned already. i've got a tiller, 1760GT, so with the smaller motor (tiller rated for 75hp), propping it properly is even more important than with the console/big motor (console rated for 150hp). i've got mine figured out correctly now, and it gets up quickly and runs like a champ. i put it through a real test this week, fishing on relatively large lakes every day in winds that averaged 20mph with gusts to 30mph. waves were constant and occasionally big. this hull is incredibly stable while casting, and slices through large waves very nicely while running. it's DRY! i had to try to get myself wet (ie., quartering waves into the wind), even when sitting in the tiller position. it's not just me, i've never had anyone fish with me who hasn't commented on how well it fishes and how dry and smooth it runs. best features: smooth, dry ride lots and lots of bone dry storage 8' rod locker w/tubes big front casting deck big rear casting areas close access to the water ("G" model w/out gunnel cap) electronics control panel w/pre-wiring !fishability + drivability! if you have any more questions, let me know. my advice is to find a way to get in one and fish out of it for a day - this is the best way to get a "feel" for what you like. if you're in the south/central part of WI, drop me a line, i'm more than happy to take you out for a day. also if you have any interest in a tiller model, send me a message. mine will be available at the end of this season.

Posts: 155 Location: North Metro | Thanks for all the input. I am not sure what exact model of 1760 (2005) the one I am looking at is, but it has a dual console and 84" beam. I believe it is a DC or a GC or something like that. It appears to be a fairly deep boat. It sounds like the walleye guys like this model. Does it lend itself well to muskie fishing as well? I would assume so, but I just want to make sure that I am not purchasing something that would be better suited to walleye fishing. I fish just enough big Minnesota water to justify something that can stand up to 4-5 foot waves. What about the price? The dealer wants $21, 595 for it, but also seemed to think he could go down a bit on that. 150 Xr6 Merc on it. Thanks guys, I really value the input from you on this since I know that a lot of guys run Tuffys here. I like the looks of the boat. Looks like a real machine.

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | The 1760 DS, which is a dual console, might be the model you are looking at. It will accept the new rear deck module, too, if you want that in the boat. It's the same interior layout as the 2006. I think it's a great muskie rig, and the second console is nice for the passenger. If it's a single console, same deal. The price is good, a new2007 1760 Spprey DS rigged like the 2005 you are looking at would be a average alittle more than 30K with a 150 Opti Max.

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Lambeau, does the exact boat you have, come in the next longer length? I liked the layout of yours, but with the large deck(a bit too large for me as I need the floor space) I'd requuire the next size up to gain floor. I would like a ride in it some time.

Reef Hawg, you can get the 1890 in a tiller. since the 1890 has a bigger front deck to go with it's longer hull, from what i've seen, the biggest difference in the cockpits is the extra 12" of beam width in the 1890, rather than depth front-to-back. i'm not totally sure on the dimensions, that's just my impression from fishing in both boats. i'm pretty sure Paul Hartman has an 1890 tiller, he'd be a good person to ask about how that layout works for him. i think you'd actually be surprised at how much cockpit room there is in the 1760: fishing with 2 people and a dog, with a big Frabill, Dunwright 10 box, and a Flambeau Maximizer in the cockpit, i've never felt it was crowded or cluttered. i sent you a PM about getting out for a ride and some fishing. 1890 tiller vs 1760 tiller Length : 18'11" 17'6" Beam : 96" 84" Horsepower : 90hp 75hp Transom Height : 25" 25" Inside Depth : 39" 39"

Posts: 32926 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | According to the folks at Tuffy, we can watch for a prototype 1890 GC very soon.....
