We seemed to have dodged a bullet regarding the rough weather to our west, as conditions at dawn today are:

Winds, South at 9
Temperature: 62 Degrees
Forecast winds to 9 MPH with a couple thundershowers today.
The muskies should be going this morning! Fishing ends at noon for the Teams launching at 7 AM today.
Watch this thread for updates and the final tally for the Salmo Hodag Muskie Challenge.

Subject: Kent Stadler and Doug Bloch WIN the 2006 Salmo Hodag Muskie Challenge

Seemingly ideal conditions for chasing Muskies on the final day of the Hodag Challenge seemed to be selective to clearer water. Kent Stadler and Doug Bloch had a double yesterday on Oneida (34.5 and 36") and boated two more today measuring 47" and 37" to take home the win and a check for $20,000.00.

Dave Jonesi and Troy Adler fished hard and moved some fish on the dark water of the Moen, but couldn't get the muskies to convert. Jonesi/Adler's double ( 41" and 44") yesterday was enough to lock up second and a check for $4000.00.

Third went to John Schyeizer and Matt Sexton with a 41.5" and 40.75" double from Thompson. Third carried a paycheck of $2000.00.

Fourth went to Osfar and Devitt for $800.00. Fifth to Hirman and Hirman for $500.00, Sixth to Peyer and McMahon for $400.00, Seventh to Lepak and Benja for $375.00, Eigth to Bushong and Kobielush for $350.00, Ninth to Jorgensen and Salemann for $275.00, and Tenth to Diermeier and Diermeier for $250.00.

52 muskies were caught with an overall average of about 40". Nearly 40% of the total catch was over 40". The average back just a few years ago according to Dick Bourcier, Hodag Tournament Director, was consistently less than 37", so it's obvious the C&R ethic is in play in the Rhinelander area and working well.

The Salmo Hodag Muskie Challenge is hosted by the Rhinelander Area Chamber of Commerce.

Thats second place in two out of the last four Hodag challunges after holding the lead on day 1:( Overall we had a blast, wish it was a non transport tourny cause we were on em hard yesterday still had 8 plus hours of fishing to go and we had to leave the water!! Troy congrats bro, best hired gun to have as a best friend! We had hooks into two fish today one nice mid forty that nipped a bucktail on my fifth cast of the morning, congrats to the guys that won it, we had our chances and didn't connect the way we would have hoped. If you don't fish this tourny you are missing out at a very well run event and 20 grand to win GUARANTEED, next time we will hold the big check:)

Nice job on the finish Mr. Jonesi and Mr.Adler! They say your suppose to get close to winning big tournemants first, then once you have that mastered then it eventually all comes together. It will happen sometime for you two. Dave, you have Troy in the boat, it will definitely happen! He's definitely a lucky charm, so keep hold of him otherwise he can fish with me! But nice job on the finish.

Mr. Worrall, great job on the coverage, very nice pics. Wish I could have helped in some way but I'm sure there will be plenty other opportunities

The HMC Executive Committee, Rhinelander Chamber of Commerce, and Salmo Lures announced Sunday the 20th Anniversary 2007 Hodag Muskie Challenge will be a special event, celebrating the 20th anniversary of one of the longest running and most successful Muskie tournaments in the country. Look for the HMC to be bigger and better for 2007!
