Jim Kalkofen, Exec. Director of the In Fisherman Professional Walleye Trail has been fishing Muskie water this year, and it's paid off again! Remember the 4 footer on the pin spinner a few weeks back off Mille Lacs? Jim sent this picture of a Muskie he caught in a Minnesota river last week. The fish was over 50" and was his personal best. Pictures are coming of his son Nate's 47 caught the same day. Careful, Jim, this kind of action might just get you hooked on the Muskies again... Nice fish, JK!

What a beautiful fish! I'm thinking it's one incredibly marked LL fish... or maybe a Great Lakes strain instead? Hmmm. Hard telling. No matter. Love the spots.

And that guy must have some skills to horse in a river pig like that... but then he shows us how he can walk on water in the release pic! Man...now that's just braggin'.

From the report, Jim was wade fishing in water just knee deep when the big fish hit. Jim chases BIG Pike on waters all over North America, and is no stranger to muskies, either. He's played a few big girls of nearly every freashwater fish out there. The muskie is a Mississippi River strain fish.

Congratulations JK! I need to start fishing for smallies more often, or maybe I need to come up by you more often and fish for smallies more often. Hope the rest of the season goes well.

DANDY!! i live for those small river fish!! I was fishing Mill Lacs this summer and noticed a couple small rivers I really want to hit. Gets the blood pumpin as this is the time for active river fish now!! I hope to get up on the WI in the Rhinelander area next week, if the levels are ok.

Again, nice pic of a great fish!!
