Anyone here run this motor on your boat? If so, what has been your experience with it? Good, bad, ugly? Interested in a boat that has one of these motors on it and would like to know what folks have to say about it. Thanks!

If it was taken care of well it should be a good motor.. Good place to get info on that motor is bass boat central, they have a evinrude/johnson section and a guy named rusty there knows a ton about the motors.. http://bbcboards.zeroforum.com/zeromain some people who had these motors did have issues, but that goes with almost any motor.. some like them, some dont...

Why do you say this??? The motor I'm looking at is on a stratos boat and the owner has had it revamped and totally gone through top to bottom. He claims he hasn't has any issues with it unless it was something he was responsible for. Let me know if there is a real problem here with this particular motor and what that problem would be. I value and need the info! Thanks!

I have a 219 Stratos with a 175 1994 Intruder. Not sure what changes were made between those motors but I can tell you about mine. The engine runs great but the fuel economy SUCKS! And I do mean sucks. Gulp gulp gulp. My 175 only gets about 2 miles/gal at 3/4 throttle. Otherwise I have had no maintenance problems to speak of.

The FICHT motor was a product of the OMC company which went out of business, and that design is no longer in production. There were issues with the motor and powerheads (If I remember correctly it was outsourced ECM and fuel rail parts that were of issue), but those usually showed in the first 50 or 60 hours if there was to be a problem with any particular motor.

The 98/99 s were the worst of the bunch. I had a 98 150 ficht. My motor lasted about8 hrs 10 minits before it fried 2 cylinders. With no new power heads avail at the time ,and a very sleazy dealer I 'm sure they just bored out the two bad ones and put a couple pistons in it. There were so many diffrent problems with theese motors ,so many updates so many crazy things you have to do to make theese things run its just not worth it . Look for a website called BOATSETUP.COM the information source,do a search and then go buy a YAMAHA.

I run a 99 150 FICHT with around 280 hrs on it. Go to the bass boat central evinrude boards, they are very helpful. I was hesitant to buy, but talked to 5 different mechanics. All said as long as it has the updates (pinned heads are the major part I believe), run the right oil, and do a little extra preventative maintenance, it should be fine. They do not like extended periods of low rpms, but they love WOT.

I have a 97 Cajun with a 115 Fast Strike since new--Absolutely zero problems. Changed plugs every 2-3 years and one impeller two years ago and that is it. (I have since heard that one should not go 8 years on an impeller )

I run a '99 Evinrude 200 Ficht on a 19'8" Ranger and this motor is bulletproof. Best motor I have purchased so far.

Next boat will have an E-Tec on it!
