I've never met a young man with such a drive and desire to enjoy all the outdoors has to offer. Hunting, fishing and trapping, Jacob does it all. We had a great trip last season but unfortunetely no fish hit the bottom of the net. Our great expectations Thursday were met by waves of lightening and thunder. We were able to get out for a short time in the evening when Jacob landed his first muskie, an acrobatic 42". The smile on his face says it all! Way to go buddy!!! A big thanks to Jonnysled for introducing me to Ken and Jacob. I have the best job in the world!!!

Steve

an interesting sidebar to this story is that Jacob (who traps to make his spending money for the year ...), hunts and fishes as often as he possibly can) entered a contest which i believe was nationwide and sponsored by Walmart. the essay they provided to the judges was 1/2 scored on fishing enthusiasm and 1/2 scored on community service. 6 kids will be selected and among the prizes is a $5,000.00 bond to be used toward education. Jacob has been selected as one of 12 finalists! ... the cool part is that as we learned this while standing under a pontoon roof waiting out the crazy storm... we also learned that his "essay" was written about his first experience musky fishing which was with us last year ... and although we got blanked last year, jacob did see fish and made it/us the subject of his essay. he was the first one on the deck casting and the last man standing after a full day ... needless to say once we finally got back out on the water everyone was really hoping for Jacob to score. when their boat came over to tell us the story it was just plain poetic justice.

many of you have met and maybe hired Steve for a trip, but for those of you who haven't .... consider it. this is a cool story that's just plain fun to be a part of, but if you have a kid ... especially one of those 10 - 13 year olds and want to invest in a life experience for them ... go to mille lac and get in the boat with Steve ... priceless experience for this really neat and unique young man.
