| Hey Guys,
I just purchased a couple of these in the 109lb thrust 36 volt for my new boat coming in May. Has anyone used these trolling motors yet, and how were they?? I needed something to run in the back of the boat while I am guiding as to give the clients first water. These come with the 18 foot cable to run it from the back. Any info would be appreciated. []

| Chad,
Is this the new model they have? |

| Chad,
At 109lbs. of thrust, the only thing I can say is HANG ON! You'll be popping wheelies all over the place. |

| This is the new model that came out last season. Jim Saric talked me into gettting them, and he said he had good luck with his. I just wanted to get some more feedback from any other owners of these motors.

| There were some problems the first year on the market. Seems to be the case with a lot of new models with all manufactures. Problems were solved and you will enjoy the ease of controlling the motor with the low profile foot pedal. Having the extention is great for guiding from the rear of the boat, I do the same with my Pinpoint. I work for Motorguide/Pinpoint at the sport shows. The company went through some major changes all for the better I hope you enjoy the product.
Good luck, Murph! |

| Hey Murph,
Has Motorguide pretty much given up on the Lazer models? I have three of them and have had nothing but problems. I pray these excels hold up a lot better. Do you know if Motorguide will still switch those Lazers out to cable motors like they used to?

| murph would like to know what pinpoint was done to better there cable conection. I run a pinpoint and have lots of problems when its wet out( dew, rain, ect.) These problems happen when ever I move the footpedal under these conditions. Also I would like to get the extention to run the moter from the back for guiding, giving the clients first and second water with me in the back. Please reply, will be on line for a while. thanks murph. |

| Has anyone else had this problem with the pinpoint? I know that I have experienced the same thing. I wasn't able to isolate it to weather conditions, though. Basically, if you play around with the plug that connects the foot pedal to the motor, you can get it to work. It's really a terrible connection. Murph, is there an outstanding issue with this? My cousin's also got one and has had the same problem on occasion. My guess is that this was a mfg. problem that they are aware of. Any remedy?
Thanks,
Brad |

| I had the same problem with my pinpoint. I was told by customer service that the footpedal needs to be replaced. They said it's not the connection even though I told them I could move the cord around and get the thing working again. I haven't tried the new footpedal yet though so I don't know if this will actually remedy the problem. |

| I will try to answer the questions. First I think the Lazer is a done deal. Too many problems and not enough interest. I don't know if they can be converted to a foot pedal. Most of the problems with the new Excel and Pinpoint have been due to the foot pedals. I had similar problems and a new foot pedal solved the problem. Motorguide/Pinpoint no longer requires the motors or other problems to be sent to the factory. They have contracted electronics stores in several regions. In the Metro area of Mpls, the Motor Clinic in Bloomington has been awarded the contract. I do not know where the list of these contract stores is posted. You may have to call the factory. Hope this helps, sorry about the late response.
Good luck, Murph! |

| I have been trying for awhile to get a answer from Mercury (new owner) on my Pinpoint that has been twitching for a while ( the motor has more flying miles than I do) They told me the only repair shop authorized for Pinpoint is Tri State Tolling Motor repair in MO. The motor is 4 years old and the problem was something that showed up after they fixed it and they claim it will be fixed no charge. Riverside Marine in New London,WI wants to fix it but they are not authorized for Pinpoint, they need to get more repair outlets. After about a month Mercury is starting to get a handle on things. |
