Location: Stevens Point, WI | I've been on the hunt again to replace my 90hp 2-stroke motor on my Tuffy with a larger four stroke engine and I'm wondering what difference a 25" shaft vs. a 20" shaft motor would be. I believe mine is a 20" shaft, are they compatible with my hull? I suppose I can look on the plate on the motor to see what the shaft link is.

Location: Hayward, WI | That sure likes like a 20", you will need to stay with a 20". A 25" would not have the cutout in the transom were the motor sits. |

Location: Chicago, Beverly | if your boat has a 20" transom it requires a 20" shaft motor, just grab a tape measure and check your transom... you do not want to put a 25" on a 20" transom for a variety of reasons |

| Yup, that is a 20" transom, therfore will require a 20" shaft motor. Merc, Johnson/Suzuki, Yamaha all should make a long(20") shaft motor that will work on your boat. |

| Check with dealers for new but noncurrent year motors. Often they are as cheap as used motors but new with full warantee. |
