"Winnipeg River fishing Report July 17-21"

Headed up to the Winnipeg River river last week and found fishing to be slow to ok, most muskies seemed to just follow on Bucktails, a few hot fish where caught on fast bucktails or slow top water along with a few muskies caught trolling. the northern pike where very active along with the smallies. the water temps ranged from 70 to 80 degrees, also some of the lakes started to bloom.

Good Luck

Just returned from a decent outing on the Winnipeg River on the 29th. Found most fish and best bite early - between 5am and 9am. Evening bite really slowed toward the end of the week and had difficulty moving fish. Raised several 50+ inch fish but most of the big girls were biting soft and just nipping the back of the bait and then turning off; one of which was a 55 plus! Who knows I don't see them that often to tell but that SOB was huge. Smallies were gong really well mid morning to afternoon. To round out the trip on the final day I had a 43" Muskie in the morning, a 31" Walleye mid morning, and three smallies from 18" to 19". That coupled with a 42" and 45" Hybrid earlier in the week was pretty nice. I think the Tiger played linebacker for the Steelers at some point, you want to talk about thick all the way through!

Good luck to all on there way up that's my report from 7/22/06 to 7/28/06.
