It talked to Joel this morning and he told me our PLAN of attack for Saturday.

WOW. We gonna catch some fishies. Bigguns, too.

I love a good plan. I always have. Even if it means I have to get up a TAD earlier than I'm used to. Or not go to bed at all from the night before. At least I'll be well fed, but so will the Pewaukee Posse.

Kevin

Smoking begins tomorrow just after sunrise.

My pan is to have a great time with everyone at Smokey's Muskie Shop on Friday nite. Saturday will be a blast with all the boats everywhere you look. The numbers will not lie as to where the best sticks fish. Size might go to Okauchee because the forage is way better. Now we got Dennis doing a guide job on Pewaukee with his lucky clients I feel there is no hope for the Okauchee boys.

Maybe we should spot the boys to the north a few fish so they will have some points to show for their effort.

Just go out and have fun this whole weekend everyone and we will sort out the fish and points later. I want to wish everyone a sucessfull opening weekend. See everyone at Smokey's.

Good luck to all..............Lets ROCK these two lakes this weekend!!!

Muskies to all!!!!

Due to circumstances beyond my control my partner can't make it for the opener because of a family commitment that just came up. I'm still going to make it to the Q but am asking if anyone has any room in their boat for the opener? I'm willing to help pay for gas, launch, or drinks at the bar. Even willing to give some Smitty Baits if you'd like, (I'm on his pro staff). Does'nt sound to desperate does it. Have'nt done an opener in 2 years and finally have time off to do one. So if anyone has room and is looking for a partner send a pm, I'd make it worth your while. Thanks all......

Kevin Rand will get a late start on Okauchee - Hopefully he will be able to get on later. Both Okauchee and Pewaukee been very good to us ...

So hows this going down? Total fish or inches? Ahhh doesnt matter..

The Dewman (Pete Hansen) and GregM (netman) smoked a 48.5 incher on OKAUCHEE on Opening Day!

27#, caught on my Bass baitcaster, with 12# test Trilene XL. Chased it for 15 minutes with the trolling motor. What a rush!!

I love this sport!!!

NICE FISH PICTURE, PETE! You must have an excellent photographer as well as an ace netman!
I still can't believe we landed that big girl - you and your 12 lb mono and 99 cent spinnerbait! What a rush!

DaveJ and I boated a 37 incher 10 minutes into the season on Pewaukee. We received a frantic call from my neighbor Bill Mann that he caught a big one and needed help. We headed to Bill and he stuck a nice fat 46.5 on a sucker. Pictures should be posted soon.

Team Kev scored - Kevin Moore's client Pete Barber boated a 34"er
Kevin Rand with a 38"
Raised a bunch including a ridiculously big fish that would have really made my day.
Fish had fresh spawning bite wounds.

Casey, Shawn, Shep, and I had a solid day out on Pewaukee. The action started off hot with us raising 2 fish and hooking up with 2 others in the first hour. Both of those fish came un-pinned but it was nice to get some action right off the bat. It slowed down quite a bit until just after lunch. Shep boated a low thirties around 1pm on a twitchbait and Casey followed that up around 2:30pm with a 39" that ate a bucktail in the 8. We raised a few other fish but no takers. Surprisingly, all of our action came on artificials with not so much as a sniff on the suckers. I can't wait to get out tomorrow and hopefully bag my first of the year. It sounded like everyone at least saw a few fish out on Pewaukee with a few nice fish boated.

What a great opener on both lakes. Some hawgs caught and seen. Nice fish and story on Okauchee. Also great job to JJ on his 49, we should just call him Mr Big Fish from now on because he is always on big fish.

This was the first opener my brother and I didn't boat a legal muskie. I had 11 fish up on baits, my brother didn't cast, he was sucker boy all day because his back was hurt. I toosed a Baby Wabull almost all day(9am till 5pm). What a great bait. Lost a mid 40's at the boat when she decided to charge the boat with her head out of the water and mouth wide open. That one hurt. Shook off an upper 20's shaker that t-boned a sucker. It's funny how hard it is to get a fish to drop a sucker when you want them too and to get them to eat one when you want to catch them. Plenty of chance to score some good fish but we didn't get er done yesterday. I am bummed out that me and my brother broke our opener streak. I don't remember the last time I got skunked. Thats fishing.

Going out this afternoon with my daughter and her boy friend. I slept in this morning because of a little too much fun last nite. Going to get a fish or two hopefully this afternoon. With this much wind for a few days it should stack some fish up in predictable spot. A 4 footer and some low to mid 40's are just waiting for us if they didn't get popped this morning. I sure would like to get my daughter one of those fish.

Here is what I know of from Pewaukee Lake so far as of this noon Sunday.

1-33, 3-34's, 5-35's, 2-37's, 46.5. I have not talked to many of the guys fishing this Sunday am. I also know of a 51-incher that Jerry got out of the river. Huge head and skinny.

Twitching, glide baits and suckers were the best producers. Suckers got the bigger fish.

I hope everyone had a great opener, I know it was fun for me and my brother with all the action. Every spot we worked I moved fish. With the water temps in the mid 50's the fish will start getting more active soon. Good luck to everyone!!!

Pretty slow for us on Pewaukee. Didn't get on the water until 4:10 and fished until dark. Lost one nice fish in almost the same spot as Shep's fish... she charged the boat and came unglued.

Great time the whole weekend was rocking (wind wise). Sanks and I went out again Sunday morning and couldn't even fish the North side of the lake, it was rocking so bad. But we did move some active fish on the East end, nothing for the net but saw 6 fish.

I want to thank Mike, Kevin and Sean for the Friday food, that smoker rocks and SMOKIES for letting us all get together.

Still a virgin this year but with all the fish I saw it's just a matte rof time....

The fish were going this afternoon. I caught a low thirtys and my daughter stuck a 3 footer. We raised 13 fish and blew a few good follows. Very windy and only could fish a few of the spots we were looking to fish.

I also want to say thanks to Sean, Kevin and Smokey's Muskie Shop for the eats and refreshmants on Friday. What a great weekend!!!

Well boys could have bolstered Okauchees numbers but lost a fish on a sucker early saturday looked to be 34" and lost another on a sucker at 2:30. Unlucky I guess! Raised lots of fish 10-12 or so with a few forties mixed in turning away before the boat. Sunday was Better for us seeing big fish. We fished half the morning scott raised a nice fish early and I had a low forties that wouldn't bite on the figure eight, Had the #*^@ bait right on her snout two times during what seemed like a 3 minute figure eight. Good luck to all that fish this week and thanks to the men who provided us with food friday night.

Hey Joel,

Are we counting northerns? LOL

It was good to see you the Friday night party. You reminded me of how I used to drag the kids around. They need to get out and about too. Keep up the good parenting.....

Bruce, if we were counting northerns I would have set some sort of record.
Only got the one barred fish, missed another good fish on a sucker (should have jumped out of the boat and grabbed it) and saw some others of varying size from the low 30's to mid 40's. All in all a day that made me very sore by the end of it.

Got my first weagle fish of the year yesterday and had 3 others do all they could to eat it, but just didn't get hooked. Man, how do I make it through the work day thinking of this stuff.

As for Ellie, she's gonna make a good fisherchick someday. She apparently was having a good time cause she was smiling the whole time. Guess she knew she was in good company. Or, she couldn't believe how funny looking Bruce is. LOL

Pewaukee kicked out over 30 fish and Okauchee kicked out 5 or 6 that I know of. Thats 5 to 1 on the fish count. 46.5 was the biggest Pewaukee fish and 49 was the biggest Okauchee fish. I only stuck 2 fish in the boat Sunday(32 and 36), so my opener was slow for catching but raised almost 30 total for the weekend. Slept in Sunday and fished from 2pm till dark with my daughter and her boyfriend.

Total weight and numbers easily went to Pewaukee. Trophy lake potential goes to Okauchee with some quality fish. Just about exactly what we all expected who know both lake.

I figured most people were sick of this post so I was going to just let is fade away. This Pewaukee vs Okauchee post was started to get us through the last month of pre season. Lots of good ol fun tossing some jabs around to keep the sanity. I hope no one took this post out of content. It was all in fun and almost everyone who posted knows each other and are friends. Me and Joel did the most talking and we are matchfishing partners on this site.

All in all a very good weekend for both lakes. Congrats to those who caught fish and some good ones. John sent me the picture of the 46.5 and his 37-incher. I just have been so buisy with work(with no computer at work) and guide jobs after work evey nite, that I figured he would post them since he took them.

The effects of the spawn has slowed the action some but it will get rocking soon. Got to go get a muskie or two.................See ya
