Location: Elkhart, IN | Do you incorporate twitches into your jointed crankbait retrieves or do you do a straight retrieve? I'd like opinions on this. Thanks |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | My jointed crankbaits that I use I rip. The only time I will straight crank a jointed crank bait is if I am fishing at night.
I use upward rips, downward rips, short and quick snaps then the ever effective pause....
Rip rip rip.....pause........rip rip.....pause......rip rip rip.....WHAM!
Also these rips are pretty hard rips, I would say about 70% as hard as a hook set.

| Mike, it's 6:30. Shouldn't you be fishing?
I like to rip them too, but I have a bad habit of turning a rip into a long pull when I get tired and wind up in a bad hook-setting position because of it.
Do you use the long rip, or shorter and faster rips? What about pauses?
I catch more fish on the pause with gliders, so I'm trying it with my cranks and twitch baits too.

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | Beav,
I wish I was fishing.
Had to cancel my trips this week and next week due to 80 degree water temps.
Heading to Minnesota for July and August on the 1st.....can't wait.
With 97 (86 of them guiding days) days of fishing here in Indiana, I need a break from our small ponds. Bring on Minnesota!!!

| I'm in the same boat as you Hulbert, I only got 52 day's in though. I am so tired of The little lakes here the Pontooners gotta be 20' from you all the time (I particularly love it when they run over your lines then smile and wave at you). I head for Mn. The 2nd. The truck is loaded down for 7 weeks of Muskies!
