Posts: 13688 Location: minocqua, wi. | tonight i had the pleasure of fishing with John and Sue Behrns who won the bid on my guide trip for the Mason Auction. John and Sue traveled up to northern wisconsin from iowa for the week and i wanted to get them out to familiarize them with equipment and tactics tonight ... i will have them out for our full day on saturday. we went to a lake that owed me one and i was considering how i was going to explain to them how and why i was going to pick them up at their campsite on a huge lake on a 5 lake chain and then drive them past more than 50 lakes almost an hour to be on the water around 7pm. to my favorite place on this planet. they both picked up the baitcaster program quickly and we were fishing 10 minutes into the trip. i thought we would start with lessons and a shot at a big fish and then saturday work on a place where i felt confident in action. around 9:30pm. tonight Sue caught her first musky and did so with style. all i had to say was ... "relax and keep the pressure on the line" ... she handled the strike, hook-set and delivery into the net like a champ and we made it to the photo session with a beautiful 44" fish. i'd really like to thank Brad Nelson for contacting me and telling me about this great cause and of course all of those that either purchased and item or donated one ... what a great feeling to be able to crontribute to something like this and then of course to be able to enjoy it like we did tonight on the water. it was a beautiful night with classical sunset, loon calls, a big fish and a night full of stars. there is absolutely nothing better than to put a first fish in the net for someone and especially putting a first big fish in the photo session .... nothing, except of course the tail kick and the splash in the face from the release Edited by jonnysled 6/20/2006 2:03 PM Attachments ---------------- ![]() | ||
