| I always have the problem with the middle hook tangling with the other hooks. If I remove the middle hook is that ok, will it affect the baits action, any ideas.
Thanks

| I don't recall having this problem on the newer depthraiders. Some of the originals came with long-shank hooks that did occasionally get tangled. If that is the case, try replacing them with some short shank round bend hooks or buying a newer replacment. Just a thought. |

Yes i do have about 10 depth raiders and they are all fairley old like almost 10 years already. The problem is I have been haveing trouble finding the shorter shaft hooks and I dont feel like driving an hour just to buy hooks. Maybe the next time I hit the northwoods Ill see if The bait shops up there have them.
Thanks

| Jim,
No need to drive. You can order them from Rollie and Helens and have them shipped to your house. I just checked their website and you can get short shaft heavy duty VMC's. |

| Eagle Claw has a very good short shank 4x treble that comes in a black pearl color. These are very sharp and are model # L777BP. Cabela's has them from # 4 to 3/0. They are 8.49 for 25 hooks. I picked up # 2 & 1 for some of my down sized baits and were very impressed by how sharp they are. The Cabela's order # is WN-11-5949. Just my thoughts. |

| I just take the middle hook off completly and replace the front and back with 5/0 Mustads(3351?)!I fish the joints alot at nite and found the TANGLE PROBLEMS GONE!At nite I tend to catch most fish on that rear hook anyways, plus most baits I think seem to come with undersized hooks anyways! Jeff
P.S-I am not a fan of the short-shanked hooks either, seems to defeat the purpose, but that will also solve some of your problems! |
