| WMT RICE LAKE TOURNAMENT, A BIG HIT WITH MUSKIE ANGLERS
When the Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) hosted the first major muskie event on Rice Lake on Saturday, June 10th, there was a great unknown as to how the lakes muskies would respond and how the tournament pros would fair. Fortunately for the competing anglers, there would be plenty of muskie action to go around, leaving all the participants wanting to return to Rice Lake in the near future to battle the trophy muskies that reside there.
1st place: Mike Etzel and Paul Parise, both of Ladysmith 43 1/2? + 43 1/2?
2nd place: Scott Lewandowski, Athens and Dan Dassow, Medford 43 3/4? + 36 1/2?
3rd place: Marcus Malyuk and Kevin Schueller, both of Marshfield 37 1/4? + 34?
4th place: Mark Dawson, Madison and Don Varese, Oregon 35 1/2?
5th place: Dan Buss, West Bend and Bob Chitty, Luck Drawing
OLSON AND HOLLOWAY PREVAIL AT WMT’S BUTTERNUT TOURNEY
Saturday, June 3rd, was the first stop in the new northern region for the Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) on Butternut Lake in Park Falls. A full field of teams hit the water in anticipation of battling the muskies that Butternut Lake is famous for, but post-frontal conditions knocked down and held the tournament to ten legal muskies measured.
1st place: Jim Olson and James Holloway, both of Tomahawk 40”
2nd place: Steve Schneider and Bob Cook both of Phillips 39 ¼”
3rd place: Geno and Brad Bolton, both of Phillips 39”
4th place: Brian Kastner and Brian Emmerich, both of Woodruff 38”
5th place: Mike Wojtusik, Rhinelander and Dan Wojtusik, Eagle River 37 ¾”
SCHNEIDER AND COOK WIN WMT’S PHILLIPS QUALIFIER
The second stop for the Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) in the new northern region was held on the Phillips Chain of Lakes on June 4th. Six muskies would be registered for the event in the tough post-frontal conditions that kept the tournament anglers guessing as to just what would attract and trigger some muskie action.
1st place: Steve Schneider and Bob Cook both of Phillips 39 ½”
2nd place: Garett Shipman, Medford and John Kleczewski, Withee 38 ¾”
3rd place: Marty Moser, Grafton and Tony Wakoczewski, Muskego 35 ¾”
4th place: Josh Strama, Medford and Pat Biedel, Schiocton 35 ½”
5th place: Eric Omit, Stoughton and Troy Hinchley, Cambridge 34 ½”
