I'm headed to Germany tomorrow for a few weeks and was wondering if anyone on here had ever done any Pike fishing in Germany that could pass on some advice. A guide? A friend? Location? etc.etc.etc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

josh

I was in Germany in March for business other than fishing but did meet several folks who did a fair amount of pike fishing. I was staying right on the Main River (pronouced "Mine") a tributary to the Rhine just outside of Frankfurt.

I have a customer that routinely orders baits in a city about 100 miles from Frankfurt. He has a pikeshop that sells baits and apparently does quite well on Pike. Here is the pike shop email address, try writing him:

Hope it helps.

Be prepared to keep whatever you catch if you do in fact go pike fishing in Germany. We just had a couple German pike/fisheries biologists up here at the Queen's University Biological Station and apparently it's catch and kill over there. Sneak it back in if you must. Good luck! Sorry, I don't remember the lake names they gave me. Too bad you didn't post about 3 days ago, they were still here and I could have asked!

Contact these guys/girls. The owner is a well known piker over here in Europe.
Edit: yes c&r are not allowed over there, but anglers do it none the less.

You had better make sure you bring plenty of money. Fishing in Deutschland is not cheap.

A popular German Pike lure is a bucktail with a sauerkraut skirt. The Germans call it throwing cabbage. The skirt requires frequent replacement. They also use bratwurst as we would a Doc or Weagle.

The fishing without a professional part of the plan begins soon. God help us all.
